ROYAL ENGINEERS RUGBY LEAGUE (RERL)LEVEL 2 COACHING COURSE (L2CC) 13 – 16 MAR 12

AIM

1.The aim of the L2CC is to qualify personnel in the coaching of rugby league. The course will take place at 21 Engr Regt, Deverill Bks, Ripon, North Yorkshire, HG4 2RD between Tue 13 – Fri 16 Mar 12.

GENERAL

  1. The camp will run fromTue 13 – Fri 16 Mar 12. All students are to parade on Deverill Square at 0730 hrs Tues 13 Mar 2012with all clothing and equipment required for the course.

TRAINING

  1. Training during the course will take place in classrooms within the training wing and on

the sports fields and the gymnasium at 21Engr Regt. The lead instructor for this course will beMr George Taylor. A course programme will be handed out on the first day of training for all students.

CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT

4.All students are to turn up for he course in the possession of sufficient training kit and equipment to last the entire course.

5.Some RERL training clothing and equipment will be provided to facilitate uniformity and Esprit du Corps during the course. All RERL training clothing and equipment is to be managed by SSgt Myers RERL Equipment Manager. All RERL clothing and equipment issued to students during the course is to be returned and, accounted for, by SSgt Myers prior to student dispersal.

6.The RERL Code of Conduct will be explained, promoted and enforced by all RERL Management during the camp.

7.To facilitate the students having energy drinks, protein shakes and hot beverages during the course, a budget will be allocated by WO2 (RQMS) A Swift from RERL funds. This fund will be controlled, and accounted for, by SSgt J Doig RERL Assistant Manager.

PHYSICAL TRAINING

8.All players are to turn up for the course fully fit. No seriously injured personnel are to attend the course. Any student carrying a slight injury are to contact the WO2 (SSM) Batley RERL Manager prior to arrival to discuss the injury and attendance. A daily training programme will be provided for all players.

9.The course will not be very physically intense but students are to arrive prepared for rigorous instructional periods on the sports field. Any student found unable to cope with the physical attributes of the course may be returned to unit (RTU).

NOMINAL ROLL

10.A nominal rollwill be promulgated and distributed once volunteers have carried out the application process and paid the required sum of monies paid.

ACCOMMODATION AND TRAINING

11.All accommodation for the course will be at Deverill Bks, Ripon. 16 bedspaces have been provisionally booked as at 10 Jan 12.

12.All personnel attending the course are to bring sleeping bags or a personal sheet and duvet set. WO2 (SSM) Batley and SSgt Doig will take over and hand back all accommodation.

APPLICATION

13.All personnel wishing to attend the course must complete the attached application form (v6.4) and submit as detailed on the form. Successful applicants will be loaded by the RFL coaching staff directly onto the course.

COURSE COSTS

14.The course costs £190 and all the details of what that includes and methods of payment can be found on the attached application form (v6.4). Students successful of gaining qualification on the course can claim upto 80% of costs from standard learning credits. Students can apply to host units for assistance with costs.

ALCOHOL

15.The consumption of alcohol during the course will be managed by WO2 (SSM) Batley and SSgt Doig in conjunction with the RERL Code of Conduct 2012.

16.Any student found to contravene the RERL Code of Conduct 2012 whilst under the influence of alcohol or be found unfit for planned physical training will be RTU and subject to military discipline.

RATIONS

17.All meals are to taken in the central cookhouse at Deverill Bks. Feeding for 16 personnel has provisionally been booked on Deverill Bks.

FACILITIES

18.Claro Bks has a NAAFI shop situated next to the main cookhouse and a small NAAFI shop situated in the Wakeman Club bar that can be used by those personnel attending the course. The local City of Ripon has many large shops and several supermarkets.

19.There is no central laundry facility on Claro Bks and therefore personnel attending the camp are to pack accordingly. There are commercial laundry facilities in Ripon Centre that can be used by those players attending the course at personal expense. All RERL clothing and equipment will be laundered by SSgt Myers RERL Equipment Manager.

MEDICAL AND INSURANCE

20.Sick Parade will be held daily at 0730hrs under SSgt Doig. If necessary, those personnel requiring medical treatment will be taken to the Medical Centre at 21 Engr Regt at 0800hrs. As all training will be conducted within Claro Bks, there will not be a dedicated Medic on site during training. However, the medical centre has been informed and will have a medic and ambulance on standby throughout. The following contact numbers are below:

21.All players will be insured by the Army Rugby League Scheme for the 2012 season.

TRANSPORT

22.All transport for the period of the course will be provided by RERL management. Travel expenses for attending this fixture are subject to the conditions set out for representative sport. Units are to use Budget UIN A4029A and POT Code 16 for any white fleet hire. Units are requested to coordinate transport requests to ease unnecessary financial costs”.Personnel from same Unit ARE to arrange the same transport.

23.All personnel attending the camp are to park military or personal vehicles on the parade square, Deverill Bks only.
