Internship Description:

The Office of Environmental Sustainability is seeking a motivated and energetic intern to capture photos of sustainability engagement programs throughout the fall and spring semester to be used in the monthly sustainability bulletin, the website, and social media outlets. The intern must work a minimum of 12-15 hours weekly.Internship is unpaid, but student may obtain academic credit through the Communications Department.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Photography– Attend events and capture photo and videos of sustainability engagement programs throughout the year, including the Energy Campaign, NYS Campus Crunch, Harvest Fest, Sustainability Week, RecycleMania, Trashion Fashion Show, and more.
  • Social Media -Update and maintain our social media platforms. Create a social media calendar for the fall and spring semesters.
  • Marketing - Help create flyers, promote events, update University Calendar, interact with other offices, departments and student leaders on campus, and increase attendance at events.
  • Sustainability Bulletin – Help the Program Assistant gather content and put together the monthly Sustainability Bulletin.
  • Press Releases – Gather and write up content for major events to send to Communications and Marketing to publish.
  • Regional/National Sustainability Groups – Update social media platforms and submit articles for the Regional and National Sustainability Groups that we are involved with.

Qualifications:

  1. Demonstrated photography and videography experience (may be informal experience)
  2. Personal camera preferred, but not required.
  3. Working knowledge of Photoshop and Final Cut Pro.
  4. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications, especially Publisher.
  5. Knowledge of the University at Albany official graphic standards and guidelines.
  6. Demonstrated creativity and documented immersion in social media (e.g. personal blog, Twitter/Facebook/Instagram/YouTube accounts, etc.)
  7. Background or strong interest in environmental issues/sustainability
  8. Project-oriented with strong self-initiative
  9. Adaptable to organizational changes and new projects
  10. Positive attitude, commitment and follow-through
  11. Flexible schedule – can attend events during the day, in the evening, and on weekends.
