Job Purpose:
To research and execute high quality copy for a wide range of corporate channels, both print and online, including prospectuses; features for the website, various journals, higher education guides and directories; corporate presentations; have oversight of the brand style guidelines, and act as final arbiter for ensuring consistent terminology, voice, register, style, messaging, grammar, spelling and punctuation; deliver advice, training and guidance on appropriate application of the style guide.
Key Accountabilities/Primary Responsibilities (6-10 bullet points maximum)
  1. Research topics and execute high quality copy for a wide range of corporate channels as well as corporate sections of the University prospectuses, and other outputs
  1. Produce features for publishing on the corporate website, various journals, higher education guides and directories
  1. Personally take editorial responsibility for a number of the University’s flagship corporate publications as well as suites of key University publications
  1. Ensure that distribution lists of publications as described in point 3 are populated and updated to reflect Communications strategy, and that reader feedback is sought, and routinely fed into the development of publications
  1. Draft corporate announcements and presentations, working closely with other Communications colleagues and senior university staff to ensure the consistent presentation of key messages
  1. Have oversight of the University’s style guidelines, from time to time advising internal stakeholders, and acting as the final arbiter for ensuring consistent terminology, voice, register, style, messaging, grammar, spelling and punctuation
  1. Work with relevant suppliers such as writers and editors and ensure that they deliver on-brand and deliver quality and value as preferred suppliers to the University
  1. Work with colleagues across the team to ensure an integrated and timely approach to communications across channels. Generate copy where required for all channels, on- and offline.
  1. Contribute to the wider reputation management carried out by the department, handling sensitive issues (and when required, becoming part of the crisis communications team), supporting the work of the press office, internal communications, community relations and public affairs
  1. Undertake any other appropriate duties as directed by the Head of Corporate Communications.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:
A good first degree or equivalent professional qualification
Postgraduate qualification or further professional PR or related qualification
Significant, demonstrable experience of high end, high quality, corporate writing, for a diverse range of audiences and purposes
A demonstrable track record of producing high quality corporate publications
Experience of editing and developing online channels at a corporate level. / X
