Intent Statement

I have been involved in leadership board roles since high school, and I have enjoyed all of my various roles. My most recent leadership role was Community Service Chair for National Student Nurses’ Association (NSNA) for my school, and I won an award and scholarship for in 2013 for excellence in NSNA involvement and participation. I was deemed most active leader in my chapter for the numerous community health fairs, donation drives, and education seminars I organized. I am a new graduate registered nurse with over eight months of work experience in a surgical oncology setting, and I have been a member of Oncology Nursing Society Greater Los Angeles (ONS GLA) chapter since September 2013. I am currently in a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program, and my interests and learning opportunities include quality improvement projects and research. I would like to become a part of ONS GLA’s leadership board because I am motivated, am willing to learn, and empowered to grow as an oncology nurse. I love helping others and would like to contribute to promoting excellence in oncology along with my peers. I am interested in working on my first professional research project and learn more about oncology nursing. I would like to create a research poster/presentation and present at any upcoming vendor fairs or represent ONS GLA at future conferences. Thank you for your consideration.
