Job Title:Quality Assurance Technician – Standard Machine

Non-Exempt

Reports To: VP Quality Assurance - Standard Machine & Mfg.

Position Purpose/Mission:

The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for performing and coordinating the receiving, layout and first article inspection activities defined by the Quality Management System to ensure superior quality levels and the efficient operation of this process.

Education, Training, Skills and Licenses Required

-2 year degree in Metrology or related, relevant inspection experience in similar environment.

-Proven diverse inspection experience in a manufacturing environment

-ASQ certification preferred

-Strong blueprint reading and GD&T skills.

-Experience with Mitutoyo and Starrett CMM’s and vision systems

-Good communication and organizational skills

-Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office suite

-Must have good visual acuity (corrective lenses acceptable)

-High energy level with strong team building skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization.

Essential Functions

-Reporting to V.P. of Quality Assurance, the QA technician is responsible for inspection activities for Receiving, Layout, and First Article inspection.

-Writes and troubleshoots CMM programs

-Responsible for proper use and maintenance of measuring and test equipment

-Communicating and clarifying inspection needs and results to internal and external customers

-May be required to interface with Purchasing and Supplier’s to disposition incoming material

-Individual may issue Supplier Nonconformance reports as required by QMS

-Provide input for metrology needs and equipment for the Quality Assurance department

-Prepares necessary reports as required

-Nonconforming material containment and disposition

-Good attendance is required for this position

Work Environment
This job operates in plant manufacturing/assembly environment. Office area consists of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Lab environment consists of hand tools, meters, oscilloscope, work benches, testing machines and other generic testing equipment. Manufacturing/assembly environment includes no air conditioning and loud machine noises. Occasionally oil and coolant is present in the air. Employee is required to wear safety glasses. Some regional travel required (car setting).
