IT NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR

REPORTS TO: Information Technology Systems Coordinator

POSITION: The Information Technology Network Administrator works with the facility’s Information Technology Systems Coordinator and provides technology maintenance and support to the entire facility in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A two-year degree in Information Technology or related field from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Two to four years of related experience.
  • Certifications: Windows Client and/or Windows Server Certification preferred.
  • Regular attendance is required.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Sitting: 3-7 hours/day
  • Standing: 1-3 hours/day
  • Walking: 1-3 hours/day
  • Lifting: 10-25 lbs good body mechanics or 10-25 lbs improper body mechanics
  • Twisting: Moderate: 121-480 twists/day
  • Bending: Moderate bending: 121-48.0 bends/day
  • Squat/Kneel: 1-3 hours/day need not be continuous
  • Endurance:Moderate energy requirements (5-7 mets)

MENTAL DEMANDS:

  • Must demonstrate effective communication skills with staff, residents and the public.
  • Demonstrate ability to develop and maintain good interpersonal relations with staff and residents.
  • Must demonstrate use of mature judgment and demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills and ability.
  • Must be able to work under stress when confronted with critical or unusual situations.
  • Able to handle job responsibilities in a positive, professional manner.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Works primarily indoors in a well-illuminated, reasonably climate-controlled environment.
  • Involves possibility of exposure to communicable disease.
  • Works with frequent interruptions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Install, modify and make minor repairs to personal computer hardware and software systems.
  • Establish and implement an effective preventive maintenance program for computer hardware and systems, including servers and wireless infrastructure.
  • Install hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers and disk drives as directed.
  • Load appropriate software packages such as operating systems, networking components, office applications and any department-specific applications.
  • Assist in the customization and adaptation of existing programs to meet users’ requirements.
  • Provide telephone and in-person technical support to system users.
  • Connect users to networks and provide initial training in equipment and applications.
  • Administer e-mail, anti-virus, security and back-up systems.
  • Assist in research and procurement of technology, computer accessories, software and supplies.
  • Assist in the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade and support of IT systems, including telecommunications, wireless infrastructure, servers, PCs, operating systems, hardware, software, and other computer equipment.
  • Establish and maintain an inventory of all computer and related infrastructure equipment.
  • Make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the IT infrastructure and systems.
  • Keep current with latest technologies and threats.
  • Provide recommendations for purchasing and budgeting of IT and computer hardware and software.
  • Oversee IT and computer projects.
  • Communicate updates, status and completion information to supervisor.
  • Establish policies and procedures for proper user of IT/computer equipment, security, disaster recovery, and service.
  • Provide training and ongoing mentoring to users related to equipment use, maintenance and security. Communicate security threats as necessary.
  • Develop plan for replacement of equipment for the optimal functioning of each user in each department.
  • Assist administration in the design, maintenance and updating of the facility website including but not limited to search optimization and social media exposure.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education

  • Attend all in-service education programs mandated by federal, state, and company guidelines.
  • Ensure that staff has necessary training & in-services to complete their work.

Customer Service

  • Interact with residents, families, staff, applicants and other visitors to the community in a pleasant respectful and courteous manner.
  • Act as a positive representative of the community at all times.
  • Perform incidental housekeeping and maintenance tasks as may arise during the course of regular duties in order to maintain a clean, safe, pleasant environment for residents, visitors and staff.

Professional Duties

  • Represent the community in a professional manner within the community.
  • Work appropriate hours as needed.

Miscellaneous

  • All other duties as assigned.
