Annual Report to the Academic Senate
From: The Committee on Undergraduate Programs
2002-2003
Members: Michael Burgmeier, Chet DeFonso, Jack Gumaer, Kathleen Hanlon, Walter Niebauer, Lesley Putman (chair), Alan Rebertus, Marilyn Robbert, Margaret Sklar, Mark Slykhouse (ASNMU), Karin Steffens.
The committee met twelve times during the year, for approximately two hours each time and made 9 reports to the Academic Senate.
The following is an overview of the proposals approved by CUP:
- New Courses: Twenty new courses were approved by CUP. All of these courses were also approved by the VPAA with the exception of the ENV courses (ENV 295, 495, 298, 498 and 491.) The new ENV courses were not approved because the VPAA believed that currently available courses can be used to fulfill these needs.
- Course Revisions: Revisions to 27 courses were approved by CUP. These included changes in course titles, course numbers, prerequisites, number of credits for a course, course descriptions, and amount of laboratory time.
- Course Deletions: CUP approved the deletion of 6 courses.
- New Programs: Two new minor programs were approved.
- Program Revisions: CUP approved revisions to 14 majors, 11 minors, 6 associate degree programs and 4 certificate programs.
- Program Deletions: CUP approved the deletion of 1 program.
- Policy changes: Two policy changes were approved by CUP.
The committee rejected two proposals from CTAS. The proposals were to revise the Collision Repair and Cosmetology programs and convert them from diploma programs to certificate programs.
All proposals were subsequently approved by the Academic Senate and the VPAA with the exception of the ENV courses noted above.
Respectfully submitted,
Lesley Putman, Chair
