Honors Biology
MP Project
50 points
- You are going to make a brochure to promote a type of cell. The brochure should be colorful and engaging. Make it interesting and informational. You may use humor as well to engage the reader.
- You will be assigned one cell from the list.
- Find as much information as you can about the cell. Organize the information into a brochure to sell or promote your cell. Use Publisher or Word to create the brochure. Be sure to answer the following questions with your project:
a. Where are they found? Are they part of a tissue or organ?
b. How big are they? (length or diameter, in micrometers)
c. What are the main jobs of this type of cell? Does it manufacture (synthesize) anything?
d. How is this cell specialized to do its job? Does it have any
special organelles? Compare the relative amounts of different organelles
that your cell has due to its function.
e. How often do these cells die/get replaced?
- Find a great picture (photo) of your cell.
- Include a diagram. Be sure to label the major organelles. (include cell membrane, nucleus, cytoplasm, and any other visible parts.) Diagram may be from another source.
- You will be paired with another student to present your cells to the class, for a brief presentation on how the cells function together. You will need to make 1 or 2 PowerPoint slides which show how your two kinds of cells function together.
- Google docs
