Reconstruct bridge, improve roadway
Reconstruct the Highway 10 bridge over Lake Orono and the road surface between Joplin St NW/185th Ave and Xenia Ave in Elk River in 2017 and 2018.

Summary of work

·  Replace the Hwy 10 bridge over Lake Orono

·  Reconstruct the Hwy 10 road surface from Joplin St to Xenia Ave

·  Upgrade the signal system and make intersection improvements at Hwy 10/Joplin St NW/185th Ave

·  Install a multiuse trail to connect from Orono Park across the bridge at Simonet Dr NW

Plan for delays in Elk RiverWork, lane closures begin July 6Motorists may encounter periodic lane or shoulder closures on both directions of Highway 10 in Elk River as crews prepare the work zone and construct temporary crossovers through July 2017.

Highway 10 Work ZoneEastbound one lane, westbound two lanes Highway 10 to remain open to traffic through the work zone during construction, however motorists should plan for delays. Work beginning mid-July:

·  Eastbound Hwy 10 reduced to a single-lane

·  Westbound Hwy 10 open to two lanes with periodic single lane closures

·  Expect reduced speeds, narrow lanes, lane shifts, sudden stops due to back-ups

·  Check 511mn.org for current travel speeds, road conditions in Elk River

Information is tentative and subject to change. Work operations and lane closures
will suspend over the 2017-2018 winter season.

Local roads
Motorists will encounter periodic access closures, follow signs. Work at the Joplin St NW/185th Ave intersection does require access closures. Follow detour to the Highway 10/Waco St NW/185th Ave intersection.
Elk River is Open for Business
Access to businesses and residences to be maintained and open.

Lake Orono waterwayThere’s a chance it’ll be too narrow for some boats to pass. Watch for posted signs and obey channel navigation buoys in water at the bridge.
