Renee Vasquez and Cecilia Escarcega Vasquez Memorial Scholarship Application 2018-2019
This scholarship is awarded for Catholic education to either an incoming or current Catholic High School student. This student has to have been, for at least 24 months, a registered member of Ascension Catholic Church in Tierrasanta. The scholarship will be based on financial need, involvement in the church, volunteer service in the community, and a sincere desire for a Catholic High School education.

Required Essay
*Prior recipients of the Renee Vasquez and Cecilia Escarcega Vasquez Memorial Scholarship recipients are not required to submit an essay.
Please write a short essay (approximately 250 words) expressing the qualities and characteristics that best describe you and your involvement in school and community. Also please tell us why obtaining a Catholic High School education is important to you.
Application Deadline
Completed applications and required materials will be accepted between March 12, 2018 and May 5, 2018.
Along with the completed scholarship application, all of the following items are required:
Required Materials
· Recent photograph (New applicants only).
· Two letters of recommendations, one from a deacon or church leader and one from a teacher/principal/or community leader.
· Copy of high school acceptance letter for the 2018-2019 school year (New applicants only).
· Copy of high school financial/tuition assistance decision letter for the 2018-2019 school year. (All applicants MUST show proof of applying for financial/tuition assistance). St. Augustine students only, have until June 30, 2018 to email a copy of your high school financial/tuition assistance decision letter. Please submit all other required materials listed above between March 12, 2018 and May 5, 2018.
· Official high school transcript in a sealed school envelope showing cumulative grade point average through the end of the 2017-2018 school year. Deliver to church office no later than June 15, 2018 (applies to current high school students).

INCOMPLETE OR LATE SUBMITTALS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED
Notification
· Within 10 business days of the receipt of your application you will receive notification that your application has been received.
· All scholarship recipients will be notified by the end of June 2018.
