Link Community Development is a family of not for profit organisations working together to transform education for children and communities across impoverished rural areas of Ethiopia, Ghana, Malawi, Rwanda and Uganda. Since our foundation in 1995 we have worked in 3,000 schools and improved the lives of over two million children through unique and effective school improvement models. We guide governments and educators to adopt low-cost solutions to improve learning and support for children, with a focus on literacy, numeracy and inclusion for the most marginalised children. Through a partnership delivery model which embeds piloting and learning within local systems, we influence changes to policy, practice and accountability on a national scale, and our interventions are regularly adapted and replicated by governments and NGOs in new countries and contexts. Link Community Development International (Link), based in Edinburgh, Scotland supports all project, M&E, fundraising, finance and governance activities in our five sub-Saharan partner countries.
JOB PURPOSE
We are looking for a skilled Project Coordinator to facilitate theeffective management of a large multi-year programme working with multiple global partners.You will contribute to the achievement of overall programme objectives through the coordination of project activities, and by providing budgetary, administrative and logistical support.
You will have a key role in supporting others with donor compliance requirements and due diligence and ensuring the quality of organisational and administrative information. You will work closely with partners in the UK and in sub-Saharan Africa as well as with donor leads and programme finance colleagues. The role requires excellent written and verbal communication and planning skills.
We are looking for an individual with a highly developed interest anddemonstrable capabilities in project and financial management, who will work very closely with the Programme Managers and Team Leader both within Link and our partner bodies.
You must beorganised and detail-oriented with advanced project and financial management skills. You must be able to remotely support a multi-country, multi-cultural team while based in Edinburgh. You will be a strong team player, who is able to work effectively within and across teams.
INDICATIVE AREAS OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Remotely support the planning and coordination of the project and its activities
  • Act as the key administrative liaison person between the donor lead and partner bodies to ensure efficient and effective communication and information flows
  • Devise procedures to monitor and provide evidence of partners’ compliance with key policies including in respect of child protection and safeguarding and GDPR compliance
  • Act as advice centre to partner organisations on compliance issues
  • Manage communications through media relations, social media etc.
  • Help build positive relations within the partnership team and external parties
  • Assist the Project Managers and Team Leader in delivering their projects to time and on budget
  • Schedule and organise regular partner meetings to monitor progress and review and revise workplans and budgets as required
  • Ad hoc project specific support, such as organising events, travel or administration
  • Review and coordinate training and capacity strengthening measures to meet identified needs
  • Develop and maintain efficient and effective standardised systems to support collation, coordination and dissemination of information required by partners for the delivery of the programme
  • Collate and share budget and expenditure reports with partner finance colleagues

PERSON SPECIFICATION
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
•Experience in managing multi-partner programmes and budgets
•Experience of donor contract management, compliance and reporting
•Comprehensive understanding and experience of using and managing internal systems and processes
Desirable
•Experience of delivering impact through mentoring a multi-cultural team and through working with a variety of audiences
•Experience of working in the international development sector, in particular education and gender programming
•Experience in the remote management of multiple partners
