THE CRUCIBLE

ACT II

HALE’S JOURNAL

Imagine that you are Reverend Hale. It is your job to investigate the strange occurrences that have sent the entire village of Salem into turmoil. You are particularly fascinated with Proctor. He is quite a mystery to you. While there are signs of witchcraft in his household, you are still unsure as to whether or not he or other members of his household are guilty. As you continue to probe for answers, you keep a daily journal to record your experiences.

Read through Hale’s journal and fill in the empty spaces to complete his thoughts.

Remember: your answers must accurately reflect the play’s text.
