Software(general)

The MNS-BB software is modular software. The software modules (or applications) are segmented according to the type of functionality they provide. Each module has specific tasks to provide and clearly defined interfaces with other modules based on the overall system/functional requirements.

Bug Fixes

  • TFTP time out issue - fixed
  • Whenever host name is added for IPV6 in host table, the sequence lost the indexing - fixed
  • After editing username and password in the Host Table, changes were not being saved– fixed
  • GVRP did not work when connected to more than three switches in a row - fixed
  • SET Prompt <Tab> command sequence hangs - fixed
  • Memory leak due to continuous port link-up and link-down – fixed
  • IGMP-L2 configuration was not getting saved during reboot – fixed
  • The QoS port weight configuration was not getting saved during reboot – fixed
  • The QoS port weight was getting overwritten when there was a lot of traffic – fixed

Exhibit A

Improved RSTP (IEEE 802.1D-2004)

Faster Recovery for Rings and Meshes, none are any faster or larger ring/mesh size

Industry-standard RSTP interoperability is preserved

All commands are backward compatible with previous RSTP releases

Hide and Show Secrets

MNS-BB has option to hide and show passwords and/or secrets in Configuration and Scripts.

CLI Command:

set secrets <hide|show>

Set CLI history

MNS-BB has option to set the depth of the CLI history commands.

CLI Command:

set history size=<1-100>

New Enterprise Traps

MNS-BB supports STP and RSTP enterprise traps now.

System Order Code and Serial Number

System Order Code and Serial Number options are available in SNMP now (was in CLI, SWM).

SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) with Domain information

SMTP now supports domain information in addresses.

IGMP Enhancements

IGMP interoperability and reliability extended with SSDP and VRRP Cisco-proprietary protocols.

VLAN Enhancements

  • Improved default VLAN. Ports will no longer be removed from the default VLAN when a VLAN starts.

“Set” command is not needed any more (“set vlan type" command is deprecated, Port VLAN commands are no longer functional). User can Enable or disable VLAN through CLI or SWM.

New CLI Command

VLAN <enable|disable>

New Boot Sequence

By default, AUTO-mode boot sequence looks for the DHCP server first, then BootP server for IP configuration. (It was in the reverse order in the previous versions).

Strong Password

Password field accepts special characters (~,!,@,#,$,%,^,&,*,(,),+,- etc.) in CLI and SWM.

Reset Alarm

Alarm module has an option to reset the Alarm Flag for events now in MIB, CLI and SWM.

CLI Commands

alarm <enable|disable|reset> [event=<all|number|list>]

alarm reset(It will reset all the Alarm Flags)

alarm reset event=<event id>(It will selectively reset the Alarm Flag)

show alarm (It shows the Alarm and Flag status)
