Relationships and Sex Education (formerly known as Sex and Relationships Education)Questionnaire

The statutory guidance for Relationships and Sex Education (previously known as Sex and Relationships Education)was introduced in 2000 and is becoming increasingly outdated. It fails to address risks to children, which have grown in prevalence in recent years, including staying safe online. Therefore, the Department for Education is to set out suitable, age-appropriate content on RSEwhich focuses on mental wellbeing, consent, resilience, age-appropriate relationships and sex education, and keeping safe online.

At Waltham Leas, we believe that having a RSE curriculum is important to help young people develop and manage their emotional and physical well-being. Although they can find out about relationships and sex in many ways – including from friends, TV programmes, magazines and the Internet – RSE has an important role in presenting balanced, factually accurate and positive information that these other sources may not always provide.

We are currently reviewing our school’s Relationship and Sex Education policy and curriculum. We value your views on all areas of your child’s education and we aim to improve our partnership with you, in developing children’s knowledge, skills and attitudes relating to RSE.

If you would like your views to be considered, please complete the following questionnaire and return it to the school by 12th May.

Yours sincerely,

S Kiddle
RSE Coordinator
