A Special Note
Several Room 22 children have not yet learned to tie their shoes. In order to make the most of the instructional time in the room, please help your child master this skill at home. This will help to eliminate distractions during teaching time as well as lessen the time it takes us to get ready for recess. Thank you!
From the office:
Please remember that all parent visitors are by appointment only. All parents are welcome in the classroom, but please make arrangements for your visit in advance with the teacher. This is to ensure the safety and security of our students and to decrease interruptions to instructional time. As a reminder, all visitors to the school need to sign-in at the office and wear a visitor's badge in the school building. Thanks foryour help!

Math
We will continue our work in Unit 6 on the following skills and concepts: telling time by the hour, solving number stories with two and three addends, working with NEAR DOUBLES, making -10, learning to use the reference book and understanding equivalence.
Be sure to review counting money (dimes, nickels & pennies) and exchanging money. This is a difficult concept that many students struggle with and any extra help at home would benefit the students greatly!
Unit/Science
We will begin our FOSS/Science unit- Pebbles, Sand and Silt. The students will investigate rocks as earth materials and natural resources. They will come to know rocks by many names and in a variety of sizes.
The students will also touch on Nutrition/ the Food Pyramid, dental health, and how to keep our body, heart & teeth strong & healthy since February is National Heart & Dental Health month.
WIN Reading Homework
Please continue to read at home with your child. Books and folders should be sent back to school everyday in case I would like to use the books in my WIN group. In the future, most students will have comprehension questions to answer.
Many studies have shown that children who read at home develop a life-long love of reading and learning. Reading at home is statistically linked to successful reading at school. Thank you for helping your child to become a successful reader!
Reading Incentive
Please return your reading calendar on or before Feb. 29h.
Thank you!
Read Across America
Please remember have your child wear red and white on March 2ndfor Dr. Seuss’ birthday. We will be participating in many different Dr. Seuss activities throughout the morning, so please ask your child about the events when they returnhome.
