Professor Ramiro Montealegre Relations with Doctoral Students within the College of Business, but outside IS
-Three Ph.D. students enrolled on his INFS6150 course: Heidi Neck, Andrew Corbett, and Boyd Cohen. Corbett and Cohen, in addition, to taking his course, would meet with Professor Montealegre informally to show them his teaching plans to help them develop their appreciation for the Case Teaching Method.
-Jointly with the Faculty Teaching Excellence Program (FTEP) and the Graduate Teacher Program (GTP), he offered an annual symposium on “Mastering the Case Method of Teaching” since 1999. Number of doctoral students that attended on Spring 1999: 7, Number of doctoral students that attended on Spring 2000: 8. Next session: April 6, 2001.
-Since 1999, every year he presented his research to doctoral students of Operations Research as a guest lecturer in a session of the course “Advanced Topics in Search and Optimization.”
-Professor Montealegre co-taught a workshop with Professor David Balkin on “Techniques for Writing Business Cases” for faculty and doctoral students.
Professor Ramiro Montealgre Relations with Doctoral Students Outside the University of Colorado:
-In the Summer of 1998, he was invited to teach a three-week, intensive doctoral seminar on “Qualitative Research and Analysis” at University of Cadiz, Spain. Number of students enrolled: 30. The best student in his course, Gloria Cuevas Rpdriguez, was sponsored by the government of Spain to be a Visiting Researcher at the University of Colorado for six months. During her residency at Colorado Professor Montealegre supervised her work jointly with Professor David Balkin.
-He collaborated with an Ecuadorian doctoral student from the University of Western Ontario, Dusya Vera, in a case research. Publication: Montealegre, R., Vera, D., Applegate, L., and Barone K.J. Bolsa de Valores de Guayaquil (BVG): Reaching Worldwide Investors Through the Internet, Harvard Business School Case 399-070, 1998.
-Presently, he is collaborating with a research assistant from the IAE Business School in Argentina in a case research of Grimoldi, a pioneer in the implementation of online retailing in Latin America.
