JOB PURPOSE

To ensure that the quality, safety and accessibility of children and young people’s counselling based services offered by Relate Mid Wiltshire conform to Relate Federation policy and the requirements for Safeguarding Children.

Assist the Chief Executive in providing services in a safe, secure and professional environment, in line with the overall strategic direction of the charity.

KEY TASKS

STRATEGY

Assist the Chief Executive and Business Development Manager in the strategic development of Relate Mid Wiltshire, Children & Young People’s Counselling Services including formulation of policy on issues relating to effective service delivery and practice management.

Provide clinical input to new bids and tenders to ensure that all aspects of the client journey fromenquiry to discharge meets high clinical standards and minimises risk to clients, counsellors or the reputation of Relate.

Work alongside the Chief Executive and Business Development Manager to regularly review implementation of the strategies.

PLANNING AND ORGANISATION

Arrange the schedule for offering supervision, both individual and group, and ensure that all counsellors receive adequate casework support.

Assist with both feedback and input into contract evaluation and outcome reportsled by the Business DevelopmentManager.

Undertake appropriate tasks as and when requested by the Chief Executive.

STAFF RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversight of the CYP Clinical Supervisor/s’ clinical and supervision work

Provision of group supervision to counsellors and individual supervision to Supervisors.

Line management of Children and Young Peoples Counsellors includingthe provision of Professional Development Reviews and regular clinical line management meetings

ACCESS, HEALTH & SAFETY

Ensure the safety & well being of clients/beneficiaries whilst using Relate Mid Wiltshire services.

Responsible for the provision of emergency contact out of office hours for counsellors/supervisors concerned for welfare/safety of their clients.

Comply with the Equality and Diversity policy of Relate Mid Wiltshire to facilitate access for all.

PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS

Attend regional supervisor meetings and formal consultations with Senior Practice Consultant, Relate National and the Service Lead for Children and Young Persons Counselling.

Ensure that CYP serviceoperates effectively within current policy guidelines, undertaking appropriate measures as required, particularly in relation to complaints.

Responsible for ensuring that all certification, registration and memberships are kept up to date and appropriately recorded including; Continuous Professional Development, Disclosure & Barring Service and Relate Directory of Practitioners Register.

CASEWORK MANAGEMENT

Act as the Safeguarding Lead and supervise the process for child protection referrals and ensure compliance with safeguarding children policies.

Assist the Children and Young People’s Appointments Team in managing complex referrals.

Liaise with stakeholders and contract commissionerswhere appropriate to ensure best clinical management of clients.

Maintain accurate data using appropriate software packages.

COUNSELLOR DEVELOPMENT

Organise and commission training as required and undertake accompanying administration.

Provide clinical input to assist with the planning and deployment of CYP counsellors.

COMMUNICATION AND PROMOTION

Assist with marketing services to ensure optimum awareness amongst all stakeholders.

Establish and maintain high standards of confidentiality and boundary awareness within the organisation.

ADMINISTRATION AND FINANCE

Produce regular monitoring information in respect of CYP counsellors.

Adhere to Relate Mid Wiltshire’s financial systems for accountability and ensure effective use of resources to maximise efficiency.

EDUCATION

/ Good communication skills, both written and verbal. /

Degreeor equivalent

TRAINING

/ UKCP/BACP registration as an adult counsellor/psychotherapist or child psychotherapist (or to be eligible for)
Post Qualification Diploma in counsellingchildren and young people or a recognised equivalent qualification if initial training is not specialist CYP training
Completed the Relate supervisor training or equivalent / Relate relationship or family counselling trained.

EXPERIENCE

Experience of working as a supervisorofchildren and young people’s casework
Of networking with people from a wide variety of backgrounds
Experience in line management
Experience of strategic development / Experienced relationship or family counsellor

Ability to work in a small team, and maintain effective working relationships with the Appointments Team, Administrative Team as well as the counsellors.

Car driver with use of own vehicle / Ability to design and deliver training to small groups
