Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect
This workshop will review the possible signs of child abuse and neglect. It will also discuss when and how to report it to the Division of Child Care Protection and Permanency (formerly DYFS), and what happens when it is investigated.

Este seminario proveerá un repaso de cuáles son los posibles signos de abuso y maltrato infantil. También discutiremos cuando y como reportar dicho abuso o maltrato a el Departamento de Protección y Permanencia del Niño (conocido como DYFD), y que pasa cuando el caso es investigado.

ECERS and Improvement Planning
Preschool class environment ratings and creating improvement plans will be the focus of this workshop. Participants will take an ECERS rating and write action steps to improve scores to a 5 or better. Participants will leave knowing how to write an action plan.

Teaching Young Children in Inclusive Settings – Blended Practices
In this workshop participants will compare and contrast inclusive and non-inclusive practices of the past and present. They will gain an understanding of “blended practices” which is an approach to educating all children in inclusive settings. Such topics as authentic assessments, individualizing, and curriculum planning will be discussed.

Infusing Healthy Habits into the Curriculum
Learn to encourage healthy habits and nutritional learning throughout the curriculum. A variety of resources including books, manipulatives, and activities to introduce healthy nutrition and physical activities will be shared.

Shaken Baby and Sudden Unexpected Infant Death Syndromes
SUID/SIDS and Shaken Baby Syndrome often result in the death of young infants. Learn about the risk factors and symptoms of these often fatal occurrences. By sharing your newfound knowledge, you can reduce the risk for babies in your care.

Preschool teachers will learn about curriculum and the role of learning standards in curriculum. Participants will leave the training with a copy of a lesson plan with cross reference to the NJ Preschool Teaching and Learning Standards.

Overview of the Ages & Stages Questionnaires: Developmental Screening Tool
This workshop will give participants an introduction to a family friendly way to screen children for developmental delays, and determine which children need further assessment or ongoing monitoring. The questionnaires ask parents to rate children about communication, gross and fine motor, problem solving, and person-social areas of development.
