REHEARSAL PERFORMANCE PARTICIPATION RUBRIC

Students are given a grade for rehearsal performance participation that reflects the level of singer that they are performing closest to during normal choir practice.

A-This student always comes to practice ready to work. They are never disruptive with outbursts that don't lend back positive or needed content to the rehearsal process (because sometimes an outburst of laughter is good, sometimes it's a disruption, and sometimes it's rude). They take care of the choir room by making sure to only move their chair if it improves their view of the director (or it improves the director's view of the student). They take care of the choir room by not eating, chewing gum, or leaving trash. They take care of their music folder and the individual pieces of music. They always exhibit good posture when prompted. MOST IMPORTANT: This student is not afraid to sing. They perform when called upon (not taking excess time to sing through an exercise) and voluntarily lead their sections by singing out while reviewing their individual part.

B-This student usually comes to practice ready to work. They aren't always disruptive, but usually have to be asked to "settle down" or "pay attention" before being fully ready to rehearse. They are individuals that have to be asked to put away their phones until green zone time or to put away food being eaten during rehearsal. They aren't careful with their music folder or the individual pieces of music. They need to be asked more than once to sit-up during rehearsal. MOST IMPORTANT: This student is not singing very loud. They may need to be asked to repeat an exercise a second or third time. This student fits into the category of "being led" as opposed to leading.

C-This student usually comes to practice NOT ready to work. This student usually is the cause of disruptions and may need to be asked more than once during a rehearsal to "hush". They are individuals that have to be asked to put away their phones until green zone time or to put away food being eaten during rehearsal. They aren't careful with their music folder or the individual pieces of music. They need to be asked more than once to sit-up during rehearsal. MOST IMPORTANT: This student doesn't sing much during rehearsal. They cannot make it through a singing exercise alone. After singing through an exercise, I have to ask them to sing louder.

F-This student usually comes to practice NOT to work. This student cause disruptions in class and/or refuses to sing. These students have usually worked to earn a failing grade as I will always do everything in my power to help an individual willing to help themselves.
