Grand final (best 8 drivers)

Each driver will at least drive 3 preliminary rounds.

Juniors

Preliminary rounds 1 t/m 3

2 semi finals (best 30 drivers)

Grand final (best 15 drivers)

Each driver will at least drive 3 preliminary rounds.

2. Driving directions

Preliminary round 1, 3, 5 & 7 will be driven in the normal direction.

Preliminary rounds 2, 4, 6 & 8 will be driven in reverse direction.

Semi finals will be driven in reverse direction.

The grand final will be driven in normal direction.

3. Briefing/drawings

Before the start of the IEKC there will be a briefing and groups for the preliminary rounds will be drawn. Right after that the karts for the preliminary rounds will be drawn as well. Every driver will have a different kart in each preliminary round.

Concerning the semi finals, the drawing will be done right before the race. For the grand final the result of the qualification determines who gets to choose his/her kart first.

4. Age, length and weight

Kids need to be at least 1.30m and maximum 1.50m. You are a junior when you are between 12 and 15 years old and at least 1.50m. Kids need to weigh at least 35.0KG, for juniors this is 60.0KG. too little weight leads to zero point for that race. Weight from IKM can be obtained at the pitmanager (maximum of 6 x 2KG per person). These plates must be returned after each race, so enough weight is available for everyone.

5. Qualification

Each driver will drive two full laps for the qualification in the drawn kart. The qualification determines the starting order for that race. The pitmanager determines when each driver must leave the pit, this sign needs to be followed immediately. For the qualification, keep driving until the finish flag is shown.

During the qualification no blue flags will be shown. You cannot hinder other drivers during the qualification, this will be penalised by starting last. Right after the qualification, karts will be stopped and lined up in the correct order.

6. Preliminary rounds

The starting order for the preliminary rounds will be determined by the qualification prior to that race. Each preliminary round will take 12 laps (kids) and 15 laps (juniors) including a warming up lap. During each preliminary round drivers must make 1 long-cut.

The ranking after the preliminary rounds will determine who will drive the semi finals. For kids, the best 16 drivers will drive the semi final, for juniors this will be the best 30 drivers. If drivers have the same amount of points, the best result of the preliminary rounds counts.

7. Semi finals

The semi finalists will be divided in 2 groups by strength, see the table below. After groups have been determined, the kart drawing for the semi finals will take place.

The starting order for the semi finals will be determined by the prior qualification in the drawn kart. This kart is the same that will be used for the race itself. The semi finals will take 20 (kids) and 25 (juniors) laps including a warming up lap. During the semi finals every driver must make 1 long-cut.

Group B / Group A
Position 2 / Position 1
Position 4 / Position 3
Position 6 / Position 5
Position 8 / Position 7
Position 10 / Position 9
Position 12 / Position 1
Position 14 / Position 13
Position 16 / Position 15
Position 18 / Position 17
Position 20 / Position 19
Position 22 / Position 21
Position 24 / Position 23
Position 26 / Position 25
Position 28 / Position 27
Position 30 / Position 29

8. Grand final

The 8 (kids) and 15 (juniors) best drivers (based on the obtained points) will drive the grand final. For this, points from the preliminary rounds and the semi final will count. If drivers have the same amount of points, the best result of the preliminary rounds and semi final counts. For the qualification of the grand final, each driver will drive one hot-lap in the same kart. The fastest driver of this qualification is the first to choose his kart that he will drive in the grand final. That way, all drivers (in order from first to last in qualification) can choose his kart for the grand final.

The grand final will take 25 (kid) and 30 (juniors) laps including a warming up lap. During this race each driver must make one long-cut.

The driver with the most amount of point after the grand final will win the IEKC. If drivers have the same amount of points, the driver with the best result in the final will win.

9. Start of the race

All races will start with a rolling start. All drivers must follow the safety-kart for 1 lap. The speed of this safety-kart must be followed. The race will start after each driver itself passed the start/finish line. From that moment on, you are allowed to overtake. A green flag will be shown at the start/finish line. Overtaking before the start of the race, will be penalised with a black flag (disqualification).

10. Long-cut

During each race drivers must make a short-cut. When making the long-cut, the driver must stay within the lines. When making the long-cut, the driver that does nòt make the long-cut has priority on track. If the driver that makes the long-cut creates a dangerous situation, he will be penalised.

11. Last lap / finish

Once entering the last lap, the race director will show the last lap sign, starting with the leader in that race. After the last lap, the finish flag will be shown starting with the leader in that race.

12. Overtaking

Since all participants are experienced drivers, we expect you to know how to overtake in a clean manner. In the end, the race director will determine whether an overtaking move was correct or not. If not, the driver will be penalised.

13. Defending

When defending, a driver can only leave his/her racing line once. When a driver gets overtaken in a correct way, he/she cannot excessively steer back.

14. Blue flag

The blue flag will only be waved when there is no positioning going on. When a driver receives a blue flag, he/she must let the driver behind him/her pass immediately.

15. Yellow flag

In case of a yellow flag, FULL COURSE YELLOW will be applied. During a yellow flag, drivers are not allowed to overtake. In case of overtaking, disqualification will follow.

16. Orange flag

When a drives overtakes in a wrong way, he/she can get an orange flag. The driver must let the other driver pass. Two orange flags or the combination of an orange flag with a warning or stop & go penalty results in a black flag.

17. Kart breakdown

In case the mechanic decides a kart is broken between the races, the kart will always be substituted for another kart.

In case a kart seems broken during a qualification, the mechanic will decide whether the kart actually is broken. If so, the driver will get a new drawn kart. The driver must start this race in last position. In case a driver was able to register a lap time in the broken kart, he/she can start from that position in the new kart. Qualifications will not be restarted.

In case a kart breaks down during a race, the driver will not get a new kart.

18. Penalties

For breaking the rules, the following penalties can be given:

  • Warning: you will get a warning. A second warning within one race will result in a black flag. After each race, warnings will be lapsed.
  • Stop & Go Penalty: you will get a time penalty and must stop at the designated place. This penalty will take 10 seconds. The combination of a warning and a Stop & Go Penalty will result in a black flag.
  • Black flag/disqualification: you will be disqualified for this race and must go into the pit immediately. You will get zero points for this race.

The race director will always have the last word in giving penalties, discussion will not help. In case a driver receives 3 black flags during the whole competition, the driver will be disqualified for the entire championship. If a driver ignores a black flag, the race director will stop that race.

19. Exclusion from participation

During the whole event the organisation is able to exclude a driver from participating in case of unacceptable behaviour.

20. Race outfit

Wearing the following clothes is mandatory during the championship:

  • Fullface helmet
  • Racing overall
  • Closed footwear

The use of a neck- and rib protector is recommended, however not mandatory.

21. Headsets

The use of electronic communication is not allowed

22. Camera equipment

The use of camera’s on karts or racing outfit is not allowed.

23. Rankings

There is one general ranking for both kids and juniors. All drivers must have permission from their parents/organisation.
