Registration18th Rupert’s Land Colloquium

The 2018 Colloquium takes place on the campus of the Grande Prairie Regional College. Grande Prairie boasts a new Art Gallery, the Grande Prairie Live Theatre, several museums, shopping and the beautiful Muskoseepi Park at its heart. All of the venues for the colloquium are located in, or near the park and are all a short walking distance from each other.

Wednesday Reception/Registration

This year’s reception will be held at Centre 2000and catered by Jeffrey’s Café Company. Centre 2000 (11330 106 Street) is located on the northern edge of Muskoseepi Park and boasts spectacular views. The Centre also includes the Heritage Discovery Centre. Guests of the reception will be able to visit the Discovery Centre during the evening. Early registration will be set up for guests. The reception is included in the cost of the Full Colloquium.

Thursday/Friday Colloquium

Sessions will be held at the Grande Prairie Regional College. A registration and information table will be set up between 8:00 and 10:30am. Morning coffee and tea will be available.The Plenary session begins at 9:00 am. All sessions and displays will take place in A-Wing.

*Friday Banquet

The banquet will be taking place at Centre 2000 and will be catered by Jeffrey’s Café Company. The menu will consist of Rosemary Roast Beef, Pan Roasted Chicken Breast or Grilled Tofu. Details and side dishes to be announced shortly. The cost for the banquet is $65 per person or $45 for post-secondary students. Non-delegate guests are more than welcome to attend.

*The cost of the banquet is not included in the Colloquium registration fees.

*Field Trip:

This year’s field trip will be an all day bus trip with David Leonard acting as tour guide. First we will go to Historic Dunvegan, a provincially and nationally designated historic site located in the beautiful Peace River valley, where we can enjoy interpreters wearing period clothing and fully restored historic buildings. Next, we will goto Peace River where we will visit thePeace River Museum, Archives & Mackenzie Centre. This site boasts a “canoe shed” gallery housing many original small artifacts excavated from the Fort Fork site, the fireplace moved from Fort Fork, and a table top replica of Fort Fork.

Other stops may occur if time permits. Breakfast and lunch are included. The cost of the field trip is $50 per person.

*The cost of this field trip is not included in the Colloquium Registration fee.

Hotel Accommodations:

A block of rooms has been set aside for Colloquium participants through Encore Suites located at 10639 110 Street. The discounted rate is $149 and can be reserved by calling toll free at 1-888-875-4667 or direct at 587-259-0425. Rooms must be booked prior to 9 May 2018in order to receive the special rates.

Please direct any enquiries regarding the registration process and your completed registration forms to the Centre for Rupert’s Land Studies office. Registrations may be sent by regular post and must be accompanied by payment in full in cheque or money order. Please note that while every care will be taken, sometimes postal items do not arrive at their intended destination. The Centre for Rupert’s Land office will inform you when your registration is received.
