Scope:

This position will assist in implementing the VisitDallas strategic plan by meeting and exceeding the goals set by the Chief Sales Officer. The primary responsibility of this position is to efficiently process, follow-up and service meeting and group business for events of 301+ rooms on peak night that do not require the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas (KBHCCD) from an assigned market. Performance is measured objectively by clearly defined indicators including definite and tentative bookings, lead development, account management activities, communication, customer relationships, and partner management. The candidate will be responsible for initiating frequent contact with clients who control placement of their various meetings, conventions, conferences and trade shows.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Understanding and general knowledge of Dallas as a meeting destination to include but not limited to conventions, hotels, venues, and restaurants; as well as direct competitors.
  1. This position will primarily focus on developing, soliciting, and acquiring in-house/large group meetings within the Northeast market defined as assigned association and corporate accounts located in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine.
  1. Dealing directly with clients and VisitDallas members, develop new business leads and bookings; process tentative/definite sales leads with 301+ rooms on peak.
  1. Communicate pertinent information to market counterparts.
  1. Organization required, as well as management of CRM records (traces, notes), contact lists, and individual calendar.
  1. Timely communication and follow-up to clients, partners, team and management.
  1. The position will be responsible to organize and execute FAMs and events for all assigned customers in assigned market.
  1. It is imperative that this candidate plays aproactive role in their market/territory related organizations and events by maintaining a high degree of visibility and professionalism in all customer contacts.
  1. Coordinate and attend site inspections and/or presentations for clients specifically tailored to the needs of each organization allowing key decision makers to experience those features and benefits of VisitDallas that will provide the most significant impact on the decision process.
  1. Collect contracts from hotels to process a booking as definite.
  1. Work closely with the Experience Department to ensure we exceed customer expectations and maintain a high conversion ratio of repeat business.
  1. Follow up with client within 2 weeks of the meeting to recap event and prospect for return business.
  1. Effectively manage individual budget and report all expenses in a timely and accurate manner within VisitDallas policy guidelines.

Reports To:

The position reports directly to the Vice President of Sales.

Preferred Knowledge/Education:

Equivalent Education Level – College degree preferred or have equivalent hospitality industry experience.

Experience – Minimum ten years of hospitality industry sales experience in a major convention facility, hotel sales organization, or large market DMO.

Specific Skills – Sales acumen, prospecting and new client development, highly motivated individual, learn and apply sales expertise, strong verbal and written communication skills, organization, problem solving, attention to detail, advanced computer skills, and adherence to policies and procedures of VisitDallas.
