REGIONAL OPERATIONS DIRECTOR

Job Summary: The Regional Director is responsible for providing assistance planning, organizing, developing, and directing the facilities in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations, our established policies and procedures, and works to assure that the physical, psychological and social needs of the residents are met and maintained. Works with the facility to meet regulations. Communicates with the medical staff, administrative and business personnel, and other department supervisors. Works beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary, as well as in other positions as needed. Attends and participates in continuing educational programs. Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.

Qualifications:
1. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
2. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action in a timely manner.
3. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
4. Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel.
5. Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc., of the quality assessment and assurance program.
6. Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents and staff.
7. Must be able to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.

Job Relationships: Works under the supervision of the Vice President of Operations. Has contact with residents, visitors and all facility personal.

Physical Requirements

Pushing and pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds Standing for up to 3 hours or more at one time Sitting for up to 3 hours or more at a time May be involved in stressful situations while performing job responsibilities Has potential for exposure to potentially infectious diseases, body fluids and blood borne pathogens Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times, hostile people with in the facility. Travels throughout the assigned area. Works in office area(s) as well as throughout the facility Is subject to frequent interruptions Is involved with physicians, residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, ect. Under all conditions and circumstances

Responsibilities:

Administrative and Surveillance Functions

1 Organize, implement, coordinate and direct the quality assurance and
assessment program designed to enhance the quality of resident care,
in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that
govern the long-term care facilities.

2 Evaluate programs and effect changes as necessary to improve programs
and assure compliance with regulatory requirements.

3 Communicate revised plans and changes to facility management tomaintain awareness.

4 Coordinate concurrent review studies performed within the quality assurance program, prepare resulting reports as required.

5 Develop and implement appropriate plans of action to correct identified deficiencies.

6 Perfonn administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms, reports, etc., and submitting to Administrator/COO as required.

7 Participate in meetings as directed.

8 Maintain an adequate liaison with facility personnel.

9 Assist in developing follow-up procedures for monitoring identified problem areas.

10 Maintain a reference library of written quality assessment and assurance material, laws, etc., necessary for complying with current standards and regulations, and that will provide assistance in maintaining quality resident care.

11 Assume the authority, responsibility and accountability of directing the quality assurance activities.

12 Provide consultation to members of our staff, community agencies, etc in efforts to solve the needs and problems of the resident.

13 Assist in standardizing the methods in which work will be accomplished.

14 Interpret the department’s policies and procedures to employees, residents, visitors, government agencies, etc., as necessary.

15 Review and assist in developing a plan of correction for deficiencies notedduring survey inspections.

16 Participate in surveys (inspections) made by authorized govermnent agencies.

17 Interview residents, or family members, as necessary.

Staff Development:

1 Develop and participate in programs designed for in-service education, on the job training and orientation classes for newly assigned Administrators.

2 Participate and assist in projects as assigned or that may become necessary

3 Attend and participate in workshops, seminars, etc., to keep abreast ofcurrent changes in the health care field, as well as to maintain a professional status.

4 Provide leadership training that includes the administrative and supervisory principles for the facilities.

5 Assure that facilities attend and participate in required mandatory in-services.

Communication:

1 Maintains a productive working relationship with department supervisors andcoordinates services to assure that daily services can be performed without interruption.

2 Creates and maintains an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positiveemphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the facility.

3 Reacts to new, additional duties or special assignments in a positive manner.

4 Accepts constructive criticism in a positive manner.

5 Maintains strict confidentiality of resident, facility and corporation information.

6 Demonstrates courteous behavior with residents, visitors, staff, etc.

7 Answers pages/calls in a timely and professional manner.

Safety:

1 Avoids work related injuries to self and others.

2 Utilizes good body mechanics.

3 Assists in monitoring personnel to assure that they are following establishedsafety regulations in the use of equipment and supplies.

4 Assist to ensure personnel follow established infection control procedures.

5 Assists in making rounds to check equipment and to assure that necessaryequipment is available and working properly.

Attendance:

1 Reports for assignments and begins work immediately.

2 Requests use of planned time off per facility policy.

3 Notifies the VPO when unable to report to work.
