Vision/Aims

About City Gateway Alternative Provision

Since 1999, City Gateway Trust has been successfully providing vocational education and work opportunities to young people across Tower Hamlets and neighbouring boroughs. Drawing from its successful model of working to develop the ‘whole person’, City Gateway Alternative Provision (CGAP) opened its doors in 2012. CGAP has proved to be an incredibly popular choice for referring school aged and school leaver young people in Tower Hamlets, who had been unable to thrive within the mainstream educational model.

At CGAP, we exist to bring hope to young people aged 14-19, by working to develop the skills, confidence and belief, that will enable them to add long-term value to their lives, families and the wider community.

We do this by

·  developing their whole - personal, social and academic – skillset

·  realising their academic potential through achievement of stretching qualifications

·  securing destinations that add long-term value to their lives, their families and to the wider community

We will achieve this, through;

·  An alternative, creative and personalised curriculum offer that builds skills, qualifications and confidence

·  High expectations and levels of structure underpinned by a tailored coaching programme

·  Identifying progression pathways that are personally, socially and academically relevant to them as individuals.

Our success is down to the passion, skills and attributes of our team. We all share the values and commitment to ensure that we give every young person the opportunity, support and engagement to develop the skills, confidence and belief they need in order to recognise and realise their potential.

·  117,000 of 16-24 year olds are unemployed, of which 25% are economically inactive.

·  16% of 19 year olds have not achieved a level 2 qualification (equivalent to GCSE A-C) – vital for employment.

We fundamentally believe that the future prosperity and growth of communities lies within the realisation and significance of every young person’s potential.

That is why we are committed to ensure we continuously improve on our delivery model, so we can achieve the best future outcome for our young learners, through the realisation of their potential.

Our Vision

‘Future lives transformed through engaging and stretching alternative education’

Mission

‘To prepare and progress disadvantaged and disengaged young people, aged 13-24, in inner city east London and surrounding boroughs, into sustained education or employment.’

We believe that we are at our best when we work to serve the whole community regardless of faith or background.

What are our values and how do they relate to realising our vison?

Why Work For Us

CG has seen rapid growth and change over the last few years and, we are now looking to appoint a new Sports Fitness class tutor. This is a real and rare opportunity, to shape the future success of this key area.

This is a unique time to join the team at City Gateway Alternative Provision (CGAP) and will give you a very real opportunity to play an instrumental role in shaping our model for long-term sustainable success.

The curriculum is evolving and refining to be the most beneficial to our young people. It’s a massively creative and developing area.

Your skills, strength and supportive approach is vital to ensuring success for our young people, who come to us with a number of challenges, that include amongst others:
