Recruitment of Governing Body Members

Lay Members

Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) are statutory bodies responsible for commissioning health services. They work with patients, health professionals, community groups and the local authority to improve health and health services locally. We have an exciting opportunity for two Lay Membersto join our Governing Body of clinicians and managers to play an important part in the CCG. Ideally, because of the significant challenges faced by the CCG, the members would have previous Governing Body or Board level experience.

Croydon commissions health services for a resident population of around 363,500 residents, and a GP registered population of 385,000, some of whom live outside the borough boundary but will be registered with Croydon GPs.

The lay members of the governing body are key appointments for the CCG. Theyhave excellent leadership skills andare able to establish credibility with all stakeholders and partners. The lay members of the governing body bring different perspectives to the CCG, drawn from their different professions, roles, background and experience. These differing insights into the range of challenges and opportunities facing the CCG will ensure that it can take a balanced view across the whole of its business.

Some time commitment may be required in the evenings. There will be travel within the CCG boundary and possibly some further afield. Ideally, applicants will also be able to demonstrate a special interest in Croydon, for example, living or working in the area or by being closely involved in projects that affect the area.
