Recruitment of Board and Committee members

Thank you for your enquiry about the role of Board / Committee member.

Grŵp Cynefin is entering an exciting new period of strategic development under the leadership of a new Chief Executive, and are looking for additional Board and Committee members to join us.

Grŵp Cynefin was formed on April 1st 2014 via the merger of Cymdeithas Tai Clwyd and Cymdeithas Tai Eryri. Both of the original associations were established in the 1970s because of concerns about in-migration to the Welsh-speaking areas, the effect on house prices and the inability of young people to compete in the market. By now, we employ nearly 300 members of staff and we have over 4,500 housing stock, including shared ownership properties, across the Council of north Wales and north Powys. Grŵp Cynefin provides ‘more than housing’ and you will find further information about our services in the recruitment packs.

In particular, we are looking to appoint enthusiastic individuals on the following Boards / Committees:

Grŵp Cynefin Management Board

who directs the actions of the Association in accordance with its objectives and rules and has the prime responsibility for the governance structure of the group.

The main skills gaps identified, in the short term:

  • Current Housing Sector knowledge and performance improvement
  • Community and Tenant engagement
  • Knowledge and understanding of the public sector and public policies
  • Knowledge and understanding of local government in north Wales
  • Asset management

Canllaw Management Board (Subsidiary of the Group)

Gwynedd and Anglesey Care & Repair agency which organizes essential adaptations and minor repairs in the homes of older people, both homeowners and private tenants, so that they can live safely and independently

The main skills gaps identified, in the short term:

  • Legal knowledge / skills
  • Management of building services environment
  • Social enterprise and community regeneration

Gorwel Committee

internal business unit, that enable individuals and families to live independently: including victims of domestic violence, homeless people, older people and people with mental health problems

The main skills gaps identified, in the short term:

  • Experience of the care / health sector
  • Experience in the field of Social Services
  • Experience in the field of Children’s’ Services
  • Experience in commissioning services
  • Strategic experience of the third sector

The position of Board / Committee member is voluntary but travelling expenses etc. will be paid, and there are many advantages of being a Board / Committee member. You will:
