However employers within schools are allowed to ask about these offences and you should declare them on your application form. You must declare any convictions on your application form as the posts within Three Ways School are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore all convictions, cautions and bind-overs, including those regarded as “spent” must be declared.

The person who is offered employment will also receive the conditional offer, which is subject to pre-employment checks, in writing.

Other Pre-employment checks

If selected for the post, in addition to confirming your identity, your right to work in the UK and obtaining reference, there are a number of other checks that must be undertaken before confirming a person’s appointment to work with children:

An enhanced DBS disclosure (Disclosure and Barring Service)

On 1 December 2012, the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) became the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and CRB checks became DBS checks.
