PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS:

-Primary Literacy:

- Hands-on, practical workshops which share strategies and techniques for teaching
reading to young children using kinesthetic, multi-sensory, phonics-based teaching
techniques;

- Reading workshops that integrate phonics, Brain Gym, American Sign Language,
reading games and strategies for teaching reading that work especially well with
students who are behind in reading and continue to struggle with reading due to a
wide range of reasons including learning disabilities, ELL, speech deficits,etc.

- Modeling teaching reading with students, inspiring a love of reading, interactive read
aloud, vocabulary and phonics activities.

-Growth Mindset:

- An interactive workshop whichdeepens understanding of how the brain works
and how to support students togain resilience in life and in school by using a

growth mindset. (based on the work of Carol Dweck and her bookMindsets).

-Classroom Engagement:
- Increasing student engagement with the use of protocols and experiential
instructional techniques.

-Classroom Management Part One: Creating a Positive Classroom Culture
-Establishing classrooms that are respectful, collaborative, and growth oriented;
-adding strategies to teachers’ classroom management toolbox;
-Establishing foundational classroom management strategies (voice, body language,
teacher presence, transitions, setting up routines and norms, etc.);
-Use of non-verbal communication and movement in the classroom;
-Establishing and reinforcing classroom norms.

-Positive Classroom Management Part 2:
This may include any of the following topics:
-Supporting students (pre-k through grade12) with challenging behaviors;
-Supporting teachers who are struggling with classroom management;
-Logical consequences and positive reinforcement;
-Supporting staff with students who have ADHD and other disabilities;
-Supporting trauma-sensitive students and creating a trauma-sensitive school;
-Supporting primary students with sensory integration issues

-Supporting children on the autism spectrum.

- Restorative PracticesCollaborative Problem Solving:

-Workshops based on the non-punitive, non-adversarial, trauma-informed model of
care originated by Dr. Greene. Proactive, positive and collaborative behavior

management which teaches empathy, restorative justice, appreciating how one’s
behavior is affecting others and resolving disagreements in ways that support
perspective taking and honesty.

- Using Student Work to Inspire Learning and High Quality Work:

-The most powerful way to support students to create high-quality work is to
bring models of quality work into the classroom to analyze together. When
students begin their discussion of quality with exemplars, they not only create
criteria lists and rubrics for quality, but they also build a vision of what quality

looks like.

- Using models, peer and group critiqueand feedback, criteria lists and rubrics, to
support students in creating high-quality work;
- Using high-quality student work and drafts to inspire quality writing, projects, and
art work.

- The Power of Play & Interactive Story Read Aloud: for primary teachers of students in pre-k-2nd grade.

- Olay is a powerful vehicle for engaging students in learning. This interactive,
hands-on workshop will give participants the opportunity to experience first-hand
the power of play and a variety of interactive read aloud practices.

- Preschool Support

- Hands-on workshops for teachers of preschool students which integrate social

emotional, early literacy and math activities;
-Developmentally appropriate learning for preschool students;
- Integrating the arts;
-Teaching preschool students who may havesensory processing and integration
issues and other special needs, including autism and developmental delays.
