Job Title: Physiotherapist

Salary: £30,591 – £33,073, future earning potential £43,206

Grade: M2

Hours: 10 per week 40 weeks (39 weeks term time plus 1 extra week)

Purpose of Job

To assess physiotherapy needs of the children and young people. To meet these needs, so that they have maximum support to develop physically and access as wide a range of learning and leisure opportunities as possible.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

1.  To work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team providing holistic care and education to children/young people and staff.

2.  To maintain effective working relationships across statutory and voluntary agencies.

3.  Develop and deliver individualised physiotherapy and hydrotherapy programmes for children/young people. This should include the setting of individual targets and goals as part of a single shared plan in liaison with education staff ensuring that therapy is fully integrated into a child’s daily curriculum

4.  To contribute to multi-disciplinary pre placement and other assessment of children and young people with visual impairment and complex needs.

5.  In Liaison with the physiotherapist ensure that the heads of school and care are informed of the need for chairs, frames and other equipment.

6.  To ensure that other professionals, parents and significant others are fully aware of the positioning needs of individuals in all aspects of their lives

7.  Contribute to the identification and prevention of child abuse or neglect and adhere to the RNIB and London Borough of Hillingdon Safeguarding Procedures.

Training

1.  To assist in the delivery of education and training programmes to staff across the service and external to RNIB, individually or in groups, through planned sessions and individual coaching.

2.  To train staff in the correct use of chairs, frames and other equipment for postural control and mobility for individual children and young people.

Professional

1.  Have an awareness and understanding of the implications of visual impairment on child development.

2.  Initiate and participate in research which furthers knowledge of complex needs and visual impairment. Act on the outcomes of research and development to continuously improve service quality.

3.  Participate in clinical supervision and reflective caseload management, keeping abreast of current professional issues and any relevant legislation.

4.  Adhere at all times to the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy code of Professional Conduct and Scope of Professional Practices.

5.  To undertake such other duties as may be agreed from time to time with the Head of School and Head of Care.
