Introducing our speakers:Rosemarie Draper
RDNS Diversity Coordinator S&E, Rosemarie Draper has over 30 years of experience in working in various social work and diversity roles in Victoria, interstate and overseas. Rosemarie has received multiple awards for her work with diverse communities including a 2004 Victorian Government Award for Excellence in Multicultural Affairs in Service Delivery and a 2012 Victorian Government Award for Excellence in Multicultural Affairs for Meritorious Service.
Dianne Goeman
Di Goeman is Senior Research Fellow at the RDNS Institute. She is a health sociologist with extensive experience in the field of dementia care and health service provision to older people. She has a Masters in Applied Social Research and a PhD both from Monash University. Di’s PhD study was an RCT of an educational intervention to improve the style and content of general practice consultations for older people with asthma. Over the past 5 years at RDNS Di has led the Centre for Dementia, Mental Health and Ageing. Di’s research focuses on healthy ageing, integrated and holistic care models to support people living with cognitive impairment and their families that acknowledge functional ability rather than focusing on disability, priorities of older people living with chronic illness as well as the provision of holistic care to this group, a wellness and re-enablement approach to integrated physical and mental health care, and reducing the use of psychotropic medicines to control behaviours in people living with dementia.
The Chronic Disease Self-Management Special Interest Group is a group of health professionals and consumers who meet to discuss the latest research and issues in implementing self-management programs and strategies in chronic disease management. The Special Interest Group is facilitated by the Chronic Illness Alliance and is funded by Department of Health and Human Services, Victoria.
