RB Concealed Carry Course January 13, 2018

Email sent 12/21/2017:

Consolidating the responses from the concealed carry course survey and using the instructor that Phillip Taylor suggested we have set up a concealed carry course to offer for those who are available. The course will be from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm on Saturday, January 13th. With the large number of responses I'm assuming that we will get ten participants for the 1/13/2018 course which will enable us to obtain a discounted rate of $50 per person instead of the normal $75 per person.

Seating for the course is limited so we will take participants based on the time you commit to wanting a spot by responding to this email. Please include in your email whether you are willing to drive others and if you need to borrow a weapon to take the course.

Please also sign up to join the Bullets and Bows Club.Future events will use the Portal Club Page to organize as it reduces the effort by several hours.

Tentative plan for the day (Open to optimization from your suggestions):

6:05 - 6:12 am- Meet in parking area in front of the RB post office

6:15 am- Caravan leaves from parking area in front of the RB post office.

7:00 am- Roy Murray starts the class room section of the course.

7:00 am - 3:00pm- Classroom session of the course with intermittent breaks and working lunch.

3:00 pm- Walk to onsite shooting range for hands on parts of the course.

3:05 pm - ? - Each participant fires 40 rounds at silhouette targets at distances of 3, 5, 7 and 10 yards.A total of 40 rounds will be fired by each participant and there is no time limit.A total of at least 28 target hits from the 40 rounds each participant fires is needed to pass the course.

~4:00 pm- Pay course fee and obtain concealed carry permit certificate.

Drive back to River Bluffs parking lot (or some other location if the group would like to meet for drinks or dinner)

Items each person needs to bring:

  1. Food and drink for the day.Roy will supply a cooler of bottled water.Anyone interested can volunteer to coordinate food for the group if you want to go that route.
  2. Driver's licence and $50 (cash preferred)
  3. Pistol and 40 rounds of ammunition.(loaner weapons available if you need one)
  4. Safety glasses and ear protection.
