Welcome Back!
Yes, your senior year has finally arrived! For many of you, this is probably a time of mixed emotions...excitement, happiness, and fear. For most of you, this year will quickly fly by, and it will be May before you know it! Senior year can bring lots of stress because of all of the decision-making that happens. However, with some good planning, you can make your senior year a great one. I am in the Counseling Office to be of assistance to you during this time of transition. Please feel free to ask questions. I am here to help you!
Senior Conferences
This fall is the time to solidify plans for after graduation, whether you plan to attend college, technical school, or to join the military. This semester you will be scheduled to come to the Counselor’s Office for a Senior conference with Ms. Sobczak. We will discuss options and plans at that time.
Education Fair
Try to attend the Education Fair at UW-Oshkosh on Wednesday,Oct. 4th from 9-11 a.m. Representatives from over 100 Wisconsin colleges and technical schools will be present to give you information and answer questions. You can register ahead of time at / How do I apply to college?
Most colleges now utilize an online application process. You can find the link to apply on the college’s website. You may apply on-line to any UW-system school at www.apply.wisconsin.edu. The University of Wisconsin Schools will start processing applications after Sept. 1st. Be sure to note all deadlines. Most UW schools will accept applications until January 1 or February 1. However, it is strongly recommended that you have all applications finished by Thanksgiving Break. Please let us know in the Counseling Office when you have submitted an application, and we will take care of mailing your transcript to the college. Application fees may be paid online, or you may bring a check (made out to the college) to the counselor’s office and we can mail it with your transcript.
ACT and SAT
If you plan to attend college, you must take the ACT or SAT. The ACT is accepted by all Wisconsin universities. For those of you who would like to re-take the ACT, you should do so on October 28th. College Visits
Of course, the best way to see what a college or tech school is really like is to visit in person. To set up a college visit, call the admissions office of the school you are interested in. Also, most colleges and tech schools have senior visit days in the fall. Remember, you have days off of school on October 16th and 17th. That would be a great time to visit some schools! Call the school or go on their website to sign up. Included in this newsletter is a list of all tour and preview programs for the UW campuses, as well as the Wisconsin Private Colleges. /
