Hello and welcome to the May edition of Mr. Onishi’s 5th Grade Class newsletter. This edition contains a great deal of interesting information regarding your child’s school activities, including the monthly PTA meeting, our upcoming Open House Night, and the exciting results of our recent Krispy Kreme fundraiser. So, read on to discover all the great things that are going on in your child's classroom!
We wanted to remind all families about the upcoming monthly PTA meeting, to be held on Monday, May 14 at 7:00 PM in the main auditorium. Worried about finding a sitter for your children? No problem! We are fortunate to have some wonderful volunteers who will be running a children’s arts & crafts activity during the meeting, so please feel free to bring your kids.
Your children have been extremely busy this school year and we would like to invite you to visit their classroom to show off all their hard work. Open House Night will take place on Wednesday, May 23 from 7:00-8:30 PM in Room 18. Please come by to see some of the incredible activities we’ve been doing throughout the year. The students have made their own African masks, created PowerPoint presentations on the computer about myths, and have even created art in the cubist style! This is sure to be a fun and educational evening for all. Light refreshments will also be provided, so please bring your dessert appetite!
A huge “thank you” goes out to all of the students and families who helped make this year’s annual Krispy Kreme donut fundraiser a whopping success! With your help, the 5th graders at Rio Vista Elementary were able to generate over $2000! As a result, these funds will significantly reduce student expenses for next year’s two-night science field trip to Catalina Island. Way to go, students and parents!
Parent conferences:
Held during the week of May 7-11. Please return the conference form with your availability by May 4.
PTA Meeting:
Monday, May 14 at 7:00 PM in the main auditorium
Open House Night:
Wednesday, May 23 from 7:00-8:30 PM in Room 18
Report Cards:
Your child's final progress report will be sent home with him/her the week of May 28. Final report cards will be sent home the second week of June.
