Job Description

Position Summary:

The Raiser’s Edge Assistant at Great Plains SPCA is a full-time, exempt position responsible for processing gifts, acknowledgments and varied financial reports for Development department. A high level of professionalism, flexibility, enthusiasm, project management, organizational skills and attention to detail is required. This position reports to the Chief Development Officer and includes frequent interaction with the public, as well as the board of directors, staff members, donors, vendors, and volunteers.This full-time 40-hour position occasionally requires some evening and weekend hours.

Major Functions & Accountabilities:

  • Accept, record and respond to donations. Donations can be in the form of checks, charges, cash, or a gift in kind all of which must be recorded in the database.
  • Maintain the donor database; all information recorded within the database is expected to be accurate and up-to-date.
  • Primary point person for updating, adding and maintain donor, member and prospect constituent records in Raiser's Edge.
  • Send donor acknowledgments with an appropriate signature or handwritten note in a timely fashion.
  • Acts as the administrative assistant for the Chief Development Officer when needed
  • Be prepared to give accurate, up-to-date information on any donor.
  • Screen calls for the development team in addition to delivering customer service to donors.
  • Attend meetings or assist with fund-raising activities
  • Prepares a variety of reports including contact and giving history and prospect clearance status using constituency information database.
  • Assists development team members in development-related activities as assigned.

Work Conditions:

Physical requirements are those present in normal office environment conditions. Employee is required to sit at a desk and work at a computer for long periods of time. Operational flexibility is required to meet sudden and unpredictable needs. Potential exposure to zoonotic diseases, dangerous and fractious animals, and high noise levels. Work schedule is typically M-F. Work schedule and hours may vary; evenings and weekends may be required.

Educational Requirements:

  • Four-year college degree preferred
  • Specialized training in donor management software, particularly Raisers Edge, is highly desirable.

Experience, Abilities and Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years office related experience with knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Previous administrative assistant or customer service experience
  • Must have strong organizational skills with attention to detail and high degree of discretion dealing with confidential and sensitive information with integrity
  • Prioritizes and plans work activities. Uses time efficiently, plans for additional resources, and sets goals and objectives
  • Must have the flexibility to change direction as needed to meet deadlines
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Excellent mathematical skills
  • Professional phone etiquette.
  • Knowledge of general office machines and telephone systems..
  • Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written
  • Donor management software experience (Raisers Edge)
  • Ability to multi- task and establish priorities with the ability to work in faced paced office.
  • Ability to function either independently or as an active team member
  • Must have excellent time management and communication skills with the ability to work under extreme pressure.
  • Must be a self-starter and an independent problem solver.
  • Attention to accuracy and detail in all aspects of responsibilities
  • Flexibility and a willingness to perform other duties as requested, including willingness and ability to stay late on occasion and maintain a positive attitude
