Job title: / Relief Kitchen Assistant

Responsible to: / Cook and Project Manager
Job purpose: / To assist the cook in the provision of meals at Robert Whyte House.
Responsible for/duties:
Work under the direction of the cook and under the supervision of the Manager/Deputy Manager. You will be required to familiarise yourself with food hygiene regulations and the Association’s Health and Safety at Work Policy.
  1. Preparation of all vegetables for lunch.
  2. Washing and drying the bottom of the main refrigerator interior.
  1. Placing and rotating daily milk deliveries.
  1. Sweeping up and washing of the floor in the kitchen and the dining room.
  1. Assisting with cook’s washing up.
  1. Setting of dining room tables (weekends) only.
  1. Taking off, and straining of cooked vegetables and placing of same in BainsMarie.
  1. Washing up of saucepans.
  1. Serving of prepared food under the direction of the cook.
  1. Disposal of left over food from Bains-Marie.
  1. Washing up of all crockery and cutlery and drying of same, assisted by the cook and server as necessary.
  1. Disposal of the black rubbish bag in the bin outside.
  1. Ensure that kitchen is clean and tidy before leaving.
  1. Any other duties that you may reasonably be required to undertake.
  1. May be required to participate in Business Continuity (BCP) activities.
  1. Are required to comply with Stonewater’s Equality and Diversity Policy and procedures and may be required to participate in promoting them.
  2. Will be required to carry out any other duties of a similar nature and type, and carrying the same level of responsibility, as may from time to time be directed by Stonewater through your line manager.
  3. Undertaking such flexible and additional working hours as may be necessary, within reason, to facilitate the efficient fulfilment of Stonewater’s services.

NB you must inform the Manager/Deputy Manager if you are suffering any symptoms of food poisoning:- diarrhoea, vomiting, fever, or abdominal pain. You must stop any food handling activity work and consult your GP before resuming work.

Limitations:
  1. The Rules, Standing Orders and established policies of Stonewater.
  2. May not, except as authorised by specific or standing instruction, commit Stonewater contractually.
  3. May not sign Tenancy Agreements.
  4. May not undertake other than straightforward correspondence on behalf of a more senior officer.
