Rafting the Nolichucky River

Overview

The Nolichucky River Gorge is one of the most adventurous and scenic rivers in the entire Southeast. The Upper Nolichucky has over 25 named class II, III, and IV rapids along nine miles of pristine wilderness.The Nolichucky River is a major stream draining the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina and East Tennessee.
Nolichucky River Gorge is the Deepest River Gorge in the south. Tall mountain peaks ranging from 3,100 to 5,200 feet dominate the landscape of the Unaka Mountain vicinity. You won’t want to miss out on this awesome trip!

EKU Adventure Program Trips are drug and alcohol free. Trips are for EKU students and faculty/staff members of the Fitness and Wellness Center only. The trip leaders may dismiss you at any time from an EKU Adventure Programs trip/workshop/event for any type of behavior or action that endangers you or the group.

Expectations:

This trip will involve a lot of time spent with a large group of people. It is essential that all participants respect one another and put the needs of the group above their own wants. It is further essential that everyone does their share of cleaning and makes every effort to meet at determined times/locations. Also, there may be significant time apart from trip leaders on this trip. You are ultimately responsible for your own actions, and may be dismissed from the trip at your own expense at any time.

Tentative Itinerary:

3:00pm: Meet at Fitness & Wellness Center

3:15pm: Depart for NC!

7:30pm: Arrive at Camp

9:00 am: Wake-up- Rafting!!

5:00pm: Back to camp, make dinner

9:00am Wake up

10:00pm: Depart for Richmond

2:00pm: Arrive at Fitness & Wellness Center
