Rómulo Guardia-Granier Bio

Born in Caracas, Venezuela on September 13th. 1961, educated in France, England and the University of California SD.

Rómulo started his career in the late eighties directing video clips, music shows and spots for record companies such as Polygram, MCA, WEA, Sony Music and Deutsche Gramophon. During this period he worked with renowned artists such as Menudo, Desorden Publico, Julio Iglesias and the New World Symphony.

In 1993 he became of the original MTV Miami team members that created MTV Latino,

and was instrumental in the launching of the station in 1993. While at MTV, Rómulo

directed and produced shows as “MTV International with Daisy Fuentes”, “In Situ”, “Rock n´Gol” and “Pink Floyd´s Division Bell Concert (Miami).

Later in 1997, Romulo Guardia decides to accept a directorial position with Discovery

Networks, where he is credited with setting up and directing the production and post

production teams at the Discovery Television Center in Miami. Among the productions he directed & produced one can count “Titanic Live” and “Inside Titanic”, “EcoChallenge ´98 Morocco and Eco Challenge ¨99 Argentina”, “Wild Discovery”, “Discovery News”, “Breakfast with Frost” (BBC), specials such as “Jorge Luis Borges: The Man in the Mirror” and several branding campaigns for The Discovery Channel, Animal Planet and Discovery Kids.

In addition he created and directed high profile branded film spots for clients such as

Kodak, IBM, Jeep, Sony and Master Card. His creative & directorial work has been

recognized with the “Gold Promax/BDA”, “Peer”, “Gold Telly” and “Gold and Silver Addy” Awards.

Upon his return home in Venezuela, he was appointed Vice President of Development & New Media at RCTV (Radio Caracas Television, Channel 2) the pioneer and leading

terrestrial TV network in Venezuela. In this position he Executive-Produced three Movies of the Week, “Chupacabra”, “La Sayona” and “Maria Lionza”, and has Developer successful series such as “Archivos del Más Allá”. The Telefilm “La Rumba de Fin de Mundo” (Party ´till the End of the World) was Romulo's long format directorial debut.

In 2007, Rómulo set up a co production between RCTV and his own company, The

Angostura Film Co. to adapt, produce & direct his new feature film "El Señor Presidente", based upon Miguel Angel Asturia's masterpiece. Asturias is the Nobel Laureate in Literature for the year 1967.

"El Señor Presidente" was recently awarded as "Best Digital Film" at the San Francisco

Frozen Film Festival, "Best Film in Venezuela" by The Universe of Show Business in

Caracas and was part of the Official Selection of the Chicago Latin Film Festival, the New York Independent Feature Festival and the England International Film Festival. The film is scheduled to be exhibited later this year at the Strasbourg International Film Festival and the South Africa International Film Festival.

Currently, The Angostura Film Co. Is developing new film projects such as: "Empusae Daughters' Unbound" and "Filala Tutu".

Additionally, Rómulo is launching a new web initiative: Sonoclips.com, with the aim to take bold steps for the development of IPtv, video content for cellular phones, VOD and to produce high end content for different digital lifestyles initiatives..
