Please find below details of a change that is to take place which impacts SCI Store Web Services. This change will only come into effect following the implementation of the stated Build number or subsequent Build number.

Change Summary:

Issue with Read Code vs Local Code on WS Find Result resolved.

Change Detail:

The following issue was recently reported by NHS Lothian – “where an inbound file only contains local codes (i.e. ReadCode/ReadDescription are blank), when Store parses the file it copies the SetCode/SetDescription into the ReadCode/ReadDescription fields within the T14_Test table. If a subsequent WS call is made to this result, and a Local to Read scheme has been applied, the XML that is output will display a SetCode within the ReadCode field and will also show this against 'Read' ClinicalCodeScheme. This then poses a clinical risk as the 'ReadCode' coming from WS is not actually a 'Read Code'”
This issue has now been resolved – the following rules now having been put into place: -
For interfaces with multiple schemes & mappings (e.g. iLab and Masterlab) –
· When local & read codes are supplied the national scheme group will be applied.
· When local code only is supplied the local scheme group will be applied.

Impact on existing users:

Web Service users will no longer be sent SetCodes in the Readcode fields when no readcode is sent down with the result, resolving any potential issues with data quality.

Reason for change:

Raised as a bug.
