Parent Code of Conduct

We, the Queen of Diamonds Softball Club, has implemented the following sport parent code of conduct for the important message it holds about the proper role of parents in supporting their child in girls fast pitch softball. Parents should read, understand and sign this form prior to their child participating as a member of the Queen of Diamonds Softball Club.

Any parent guilty of improper conduct at any game(s) or practice will be asked to leave the sports facility. A meeting will be set up with the head coach of that team to discuss the incident not less than 24 hours and no more than 72 hours of the incident. It shall be made clear that any future misconduct will not be tolerated and may result in sanctions. The head coach will report back to the President of Queen of Diamonds , the results of the meeting with the parent. Any future misconduct incidents will be handled by the Queen of Diamonds board of directors and a decision made that is in the best interest of the player and the Queen of Diamonds Softball Club.

Preamble

The essential elements of character building and ethics in sports are embodied in the concept of sportsmanship and six core principles: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Good Citizenship. Thehighest potential of sports is achieved when competitionreflects these “six pillars of character.”

I therefore agree:

1. I will not force my child to participate

2. I will learn the rules of the game

3. I (and my guests) will be a positive role model for my child and encourage sportsmanship by showing respect and courtesy, and by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, officials, and spectators at every game or practice.

4. I (and my guests) will not engage in any kind of unsportsmanlike conduct with any official, coach, player, or parent such as taunting, refusing to shake hands, using profane language, and gestures.

5. I will not encourage any behaviors or practices that would endanger the health and well-being of athletes.

6. I will teach my child to play by the rules and to resolve conflicts without resorting to hostility or violence.

7. I will demand that my child treat other players, coaches, officials, and spectators with respect, regardless of race, creed, color, sex, or ability.

8. I will teach my child that doing one’s best is more important than winning, so that my child will never feel defeated by the outcome of a game.

9. I will never ridicule my child or other participants for making a mistake or losing a competition.

10. I will promote the emotional and physical well-being of the athletes ahead of any personal desire I may have for my child to win.

11. I will respect the coaches and their authority during games and will never question, discuss, or confront coaches at the game field, and will take time to speak with coaches at an agreed upon time and place.

12. I understand that I must wait a minimum of 24hours, if tensions are high, to speak with the coach.

13. I understand that I may request to speak with the president should the matter entail a player being mistreated in any way.

14. I understand that playing time is at the discretion of the coach. A parent may ask to speak with the head coach at an agreed upon time and place. Parents don’t always see what the coach sees especially during practice time. This meeting may help the parent understand the coaches’ decision making.

15. I understand that my child is not guaranteed to play certain position(s). This will be determined by the coaches.

16. I will refrain from coaching my child or other players during games and practices, unless I am one of the official coaches or I am asked to assist by an official coach of that team.

I agree that if I fail to abide by the aforementioned rules and guidelines, I will be subject to disciplinary action, but is not limited to the following:

1. Verbal Warning by Head coach, and/or Queen of Diamonds President.

2. Written warning

3. Parent/player game suspension with written documentation of incident kept on file by club

4. Parent/player season suspension
