Informative Community Updates

Issue: To inform listeners of non-profit services that provides support to the listening area.

Responsive Programming and Examples:

During the fourth quarter of 2012, WWJM 105.9 & 94.5 aired pre-recorded, fifteen-econd public service announcements relaying information to listeners about community services.

  1. WWJM-FM 105.9 & 94.5 included in pre-recorded public service announcements, information aboutThe Big Brother Big Sister Buckeye Pep Rally. The announcement informed the public when the event was taking place, how they could attend the event, and where they could go to obtain more information.

Sample date and time:Monday, October 15th @ 8:56am

  1. WWJM-FM 105.9 & 94.5 included in pre-recorded public service announcements, information about local Hurricane Sandy Relief efforts. The announcements presented listeners with information on who was sponsoring the relief drive, where they could obtain more information about the drive, and what they needed to be donated.

  1. WWJM-FM 105.9 & 94.5 included in pre-recorded public service announcements, information about the Canvas, Corks, and Cookies fundraiser put on by Zanesville Professional Women. The announcement included information about what the fundraiser was for, when the event was, and where they could obtain more information about the event.

  1. WWJM-FM 105.9 & 94.5 included in pre-recorded public service announcements, information about local chapter of the Boy Scouts. The announcement informed the listener about how they could have their child get involved in cub or boy scouts, what kinds of things they do in the scouts, and where to go for more information about the scouts and how to join

  1. WWJM-FM 105.9 & 94.5 aired pre-recorded public service announcements from the OAB, entitled; “Ohio Department of Health Diabetes Awareness” This campaign raises public awareness about diabetes awareness and the additional health risks diabetics’ face.

Local Entertainment Information

Issue: To make listeners aware of local happenings.

Responsive Programming and Examples:

During the fourth quarter of 2012, WWJM 105.9 & 94.5 aired pre-recorded, fifteen or thirty-second public service announcements relaying information to listeners about local entertainment and area happenings.

  1. WWJM-FM 105.9 & 94.5 included in pre-recorded public service announcements, information about Comedian Bill Engvall coming to the Midland Theater. The announcement informed the public about where and when they event was taking place, a brief background of Bill Engvall, and where they could go to find out more information about the event.

  1. WWJM-FM 105.9 & 94.5 included in pre-recorded public service announcements, information aboutthe New Concord Christmas Parade. The announcements informed the listener when the event was taking place, where the parade was starting, and where they could go to find more information about the event.

  1. WWJM-FM 105.9 & 94.5 included in pre-recorded public service announcements, information aboutthe 43rd annual Apple Butter Stirrin’ Festival. The announcement included what the festival was about, where the festival was taking place, how long the event was running and where the listener could go to find out more information about the event.

  1. WWJM-FM 105.9 & 94.5 included in pre-recorded public service announcements, information in regards to the Spread the Smiles food drive going on for Thanksgiving. The announcement explained the listener how they could participate, what donations they business was looking for, and where they could drop off their can goods.

Local Issues

Issue: To inform listeners of issues and services being offered in the area.

Responsive Programming and Examples:

During the fourth quarter of 2012, WWJM-FM 105.9 & 94.5 aired pre-recorded, fifteen and thirty-second public service announcements relaying information to listeners about local issues and services.

  1. WWJM-FM 105.9 & 94.5 included in pre-recorded public service announcements, information about a campaign called “Obesity Happens One Pound At A Time. So Does Preventing It.” The announcement raised awareness to the listener about the dangers of obesity and tips on where to go to get help.

  1. WWJM-FM 105.9 & 94.5 included in pre-recorded public service announcements, information in regards to the 211 Call Center by United Way. The announcement informed the public about what the call center is about, what serviced they provide, and what the public can do to help.

Family Issues

Issue: To offer listeners advice on marriage, parenting and family relationships.

Responsive programming and examples:

During the fourth quarter of 2012, WWJM-FM 105.9 & 94.5 aired pre-recorded, public service announcements that relate to family issues.

  1. WWJM-FM 105.9 & 94.5 included in pre-recorded national public service announcements, information fromThe Family Minute with Mark Merrill. The Family Minute with Mark Merrill is a media production of Family First, a national non-profit organization based in Tampa, Florida. The Family Minute reaches millions of listeners each week, offering them practical, impactful and relevant advice on marriage, parenting and family relationships. The announcements change daily and air Monday thru Friday.

  1. WWJM-FM 105.9 & 94.5 included in pre-recorded public service announcements, information about a campaign called “Side by Side” promoted by the Veterans Crisis Hotline. The announcement informed the public how local veterans and their families can get help for themselves and their loved ones after returning home from war.

Station Promotions

Issue:To offer listeners a chance to get involved with the station; WWJM-FM 94.5 & 105.9.

Responsive programming and examples:

During the fourth quarter of 2012, WWJM-FM 105.9 & 94.5 aired pre-recorded, public service announcements about station contests during the holidays.

  1. WWJM-FM 105.9 & 94.5 held a Christmas promotion the three weeks leading up to Christmas called“The Mix Christmas List” where our listeners had to call in during the noon hour and be caller number five to win the prize package of the day. WWJM-FM 105.9 & 94.5 ran pre-recorded announcements leading up to and during the contest to inform the listeners how to participate, when to participate and what they would win.

  1. WWJM-FM 105.9 & 94.5 held a Halloween promotion the two weeks leading up to Halloween called “Boo at the Zoo!” WWJM-FM 105.9 & 94.5 ran pre-recorded announcements leading up to and during the contest to inform the listeners how to participate, when to participate and what they would win.
