Qualitative Research Today and Tomorrow

The panelists – all former Qualitative Research Consultant Association (QRCA) presidents: Judith Langer, J. Robert Harris and Bill Weylock – will discuss trends and techniques in the evolving field of qualitative research, including increased use of technology and ethnography.

Judy Langer, President of Langer Qualitative, has been a qualitative researcher for 30+ years on a wide variety of products, services and public opinion topics. She writes, speaks and lectures frequently on qualitative research and on lifestyle trends. Previously, she was Senior Vice President of GfK NOP Qualitative Practice, and President of Langer Associates. She was a founding member and first president of the Qualitative Research Consultants Association, has served on its Board of Directors, currently on its field committee and the editorial board of QRCA Views. She authored The Mirrored Window: Focus Groups from a Moderator's Point of View, published in 2001.

J. Robert Harris, President of JRH Marketing Services, has over 30 years of diverse marketing and research experience, including media, packaged goods, international, ethnic, and social marketing and research assignments from major corporations, agencies, organizations and government ministries. He has been a speaker at various marketing conventions, lectures and conducts seminars in the United States, Canada, Europe, Africa, Mexico, Central and South America. A Founding Member of the Qualitative Research Consultants Association (QRCA), he has served as Vice-President and President, and is Chair of its Professionalism Committee. Bob is also past Chairman of the Research Industry Coalition.

Bill Weylock, Sr. V.P., Research Services, Rockhopper Research, has provided research services to leading manufacturers, service providers, direct response marketers, and agencies for more than 20 years in the US, Europe and Asia. He has been a frequent contributor to workshops and special projects, founded and managed the research section of a leading online marketing forum, and teaches marketing research at the New York University Management Institute. He has served as Chair of the Research Industry Coalition and two terms as President of the Qualitative Research Consultants Association (QRCA), of which he is a founding member and current Chair of the Bylaws Committee.
