STARTALK Chinese Language Instructor
Candidate Information
Qualifications for WV STARTALK Chinese Language Instructor
· Native-level Chinese language proficiency
· Native-level Chinese cultural knowledge and expertise
· Ability to legally work in the United States
· Previous experience presenting Chinese language and culture to an audience
· Previous experience teaching Chinese language preferred
· Previous experience working with elementary children preferred
· Previous experience working within a STARTALK summer camp preferred
Commitment to the Project
· Participate in a minimum of 3 on-site/pre-program trainings.
· Enroll and participate in a STARTALK Chinese Teacher program if personal situation allows or participate in a mediated-online training module program.
· Develop extracurricular activities and materials related to the STARTALK program theme.
· Deliver/Facilitate instruction during the West Virginia STARTALK program at Cheat Lake Elementary during the 10 days of the program.
· Collaborate with Project Coordinator, Instructional Facilitators, Site facilitators and the Chinese Language Consultant and other program staff throughout the implementation of the STARTALK program.
Project Incentives:
· $675 for participating in the three days of training & Curriculum development
· $450 for program curriculum development and set up
· $2,250 for delivering/facilitating/implementing/reflecting upon instruction during the 10 days of the WV STARTALK program in Morgantown, WV
Project Timelines:
· April 3, 2013: Notification of Acceptance
· May – June, 2013: (Pre-Program Preparation) TBD 3 Days of on-site Professional Development Training, Additional STARTALK Teacher Training, Program Set-up
· June 17-28, 2013: WV STARTALK Program at Cheat Lake Elementary – Morgantown, WV
