Admissions Counselor-Native American Recruitment
The University of Wisconsin‐Madison invites applications and nominations for an Admissions Counselor-Native American Recruitment position in the Office of Admissions and Recruitment. UW‐Madison is a major research university, nationally and internationally renowned. The Office of Admissions recruits nationally and receives more than 38,000 undergraduate applications annually.
The incumbent will work with Native American students, will also identify and visit community and social agencies, and individuals that serve the needs or have contact with Native American students. This individual will act as a referral agent for new and continuing multicultural and Native American students when their questions or concerns are more appropriately handled by another University or community based office or program, and review Native American/multicultural student literature and community events to keep current.
Admissions counselors assist prospective freshman and transfer students in navigating the college selection process with a goal of attracting, recruiting, admitting, and enrolling a talented, geographically diverse student body. In addition to general admission duties, the incumbent will be assigned to work on one or more targeted areas that include: multicultural recruitment, international recruitment, event planning, and marketing and communication. The incumbent will work with a range of constituents including students, parents, high school guidance counselors, transfer counselors, alumni, and campus stakeholders. They are expected to give presentations and engage in recruitment and outreach activities. Admission decisions are made using a selective, comprehensive and holistic review process. Evening and weekend work required during peak times.
A Bachelor’s degree is required. Prior admissions experience is preferred.

The full‐time academic staff position (PVL 79816) is available immediately with a desired begin date of July 1, 2014. A competitive salary and benefits package will be offered, with title and salary dependent on qualifications. The minimum starting salary is $ 37,000.
