Additional information

I completed my NVQ level 2 in child care as an apprentice at Fremantle academy and my NVQ level 3 whilst employed. My role was as early years assistant in the preschool working with children aged 2 - 4 years. If necessary I would also work in key stage1 and 2 classes. I was a key person to 20 children, with a majority of the children being EAL as a high level of EAL families lived in the community. My responsibilities included carrying out observations and completing online journals using 2simple, parents meetings to discuss child development, writing progress reports, ECAT and tracking child progression using an overview implement. From 2010 - 2011 I ran a community preschool with another member of staff which was an over flow to the main preschool due to high up take. During this role I had to complete tasks such as planning using the EYFS, PDR grids and organising the daily routines. I was also employed to work in the children's centre after school hours providing care for children aged 3 - 11 years. My responsibilities in this role included planning, providing snack, interaction with children, leasing with parents and taking observations on the foundation stage children.

I went on to work at Tickleford preschool as a senior practitioner where I would undertake duties such as the day to dray running of the preschool when the lead practitioner was unavailable, staff meetings, parents meetings, planning, observations and journals online using Tapestry.

I then became an employee working at a preschool attached to an infant / primary school with 2 - 4 year olds where my role is deputy lead practitioner. I started working for Bitterne community preschool as an assistant practitioner in December 2014 and interviewed for the Deputy position in June 2015 in which I was promoted. I am also the preschools special educational needs co-ordinator. As my role as deputy I over see the daily running of the preschool sessions. I'm a key person to 14 children carrying out observations and completing journals online using Tapestry. I work along side three assistant practitioners, another deputy lead practitioner in which I share the role and the lead practitioner. As part of my deputy role I am involved with safe guarding and child protection. My duties as SENCo include monitoring/observing children with special needs, intervention work, one to one work, IEP's, referral forms, working with outside agencies and parents. I also undertake the ECAT role in the setting and implement this in to the planning and daily sessions.

I am currently working as a Teaching assistant in Reception class at Bevois Town primary school till the end of the summer term. The school is based in a diverse and multi cultural part of the city which means I work with many children who are EAL (English as an additional language) and have a range of religious and cultural beliefs. My duties for this role include working with the children during PDR to promote inclusive play and develop personal, social and emotional skills. Taking observations of the children to complete learning journals. I also undertake small group activities to develop children's needs in specific areas such as name writing, phonics, sentencing writing and maths skills. I work with children one to one to develop reading skills, segmenting/blending sounds and keeping records of reading progress. My duties also include working alongside the class teacher to assist with making and preparing resources for the children, ensuring the class environment is suitable for the children( creating display boards and arranging the different areas of the class), discussing children's development needs and progression. In my current role I job share a one to one role working with a child with SEN (physical disability) with the other teaching assistants in the class. My duties included the general health and safety of the child through out the school day, working with the child during lessons and in play times and ensuring the child has a fully inclusive school experience.
