S6 Anthony Nolan Trust Sign-Up Event: Amy from the Anthony Nolan Trust will be back in school on Thursday 23rd March during periods 5 and 6 in Mr Davidson and Mrs Taylor’s PSE classrooms for the Register and Be a Lifesaver Event for those who want to sign up to be on the register to donate stem cells/bone marrow. No one is ever put under pressure to become a donor but, if you are thinking about it, the Anthony Nolan Trust match incredible individuals willing to donate their stem cells to patients in desperate need of a lifesaving transplant. Unfortunately over 2,000 UK patients every year rely on a complete stranger to give them a second chance of life. The Anthony Nolan Trust recruit donors between the ages of 16 & 30, as younger donors provide the best possible outcomes for patients. Registering as a donor is very simple, it involves filling out an application form and providing a saliva sample. Donors only have around a 1 in 900 chance of being found to be a match for a patient and, if they are, 90% of donations are done through a process very similar to giving blood. It really is that simple and lives can be saved! To find out more you can visit the website If you know you want to join the register please speak to one of the student ambassadors in your registration group who will give you a time slot for Thursday afternoon and will help you with questions you may have. Time slots will be displayed in the S6 area by Thursday morning so you can check your time or slot yourself in if you decide that’s what you want to do. Any issues or questions please come see Mrs Macrae in the Guidance Base. Thank you!
