The Class of 2017 has been very fortunate to have Ms. Ashley Davis and Mr. Michael Papciakas their advisors at VMHS.

GRADUATION ANNOUNCEMENTS, CAPS & GOWNS, CLASS RINGS…

(All participants in commencement are required to wear school and district approved regalia, which includes a cap, gown and stole. Graduation regalia is provided for participants to wearduring the commencement ceremony, but must be returned immediately following the ceremony. Alternatively, students may purchase graduation regalia through Herff Jones.)

Herff Jones representatives will be on campus to take orders for graduation announcements, caps & gowns and class rings. Look for the Herff Jones EZ Up and table in the Quad during both lunches on specified dates. Senior packets will be distributed to students during College Kick-Off on October19th. If you did not receive a packet, see Mrs. Calderon in the Trading Post.

Graduation Item Order Dates:

October 26: 4-6pm (Two hours prior to Senior Parent Night)

November 2: Orders taken @ VMHS during lunch

December 7: Orders taken @ VMHS during lunch

January 25: Orders taken @ VMHS during lunch (last date)

Deadline to submit order online: January 31

Deadline for final payment on grad packages: March 15

Announcement Delivery Date: April 27 @ lunch

*All students must be cleared from the No-Go List and cleared from all outstanding fees or holds in order to receive cap/gown.

Orders can be made online, in person during lunch, or via mail. Payments may be made by cash, check or credit card. Checks arenot accepted for final payment upon delivery! There is a $75.00 deposit on graduation packages and a $60.00 deposit on class rings.

Extra Graduation Announcements: Additional announcements may be purchasedstarting May 2, 2017 at The Trading Post for $2.00 each (cash only). While supplies last.

YEARBOOKS…

You may purchase yearbooks at the bookkeeper’s window during break and lunch, or access the “Trading Post Online” on the front page of our website, The prices are $86.00 w/ASB and $91.00 w/out, until mid-April. After this time, all prices will be $100.00.

Senior Casuals: Nov. 30th & Dec. 1st. These pictures will be added to the Senior pages in the yearbook. Props and/or clothing that represents who you are as an individual may be worn or brought in. Items must be school appropriate and no live animals are allowed.

Senior Panorama Picture: Feb. 7, 2017. Any writing or messages on shirts must be submitted to and approved before Feb. 2nd. No exceptions!

Personal Grad Ads for Seniors may be purchased through the link on the VMHS website. Prices will go up every month, and the deadline to purchase a personal Grad Ad is March 31st.

Senior Baby Photos, Quotes and/or Accolades: Quotes must be 150 characters or less and accolades should include the VMHS activity and number of years involved. Make sure to include your name on all info! More information will be posted on the VMHS website soon.

Yearbook Signing Party

Students may pick up their yearbooks, dance to music, or just sign yearbooks with their friends. This event takes place on Thursday, June 1stfrom 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. in MPR. The price is $3 for the VIP lines (shorter/less wait time) and free for other lines. Students who do not attend, may pick up their yearbooks on the regular yearbook distribution day.

COUNSELING CORNER…

FAFSA -- FINANCIAL AID WORKSHOPS: October 27th, November 30th, January 19th, February 8th. A Spanish workshop will be held on February 8th. All workshops are in the Library Computer Lab from 6:30 – 8:00 pm. This is hosted by MSJC Financial Aid Department and is available for any student for any college. Seating is limited, registration is required. Please register in the College &Career Center or call 951-894-5750, Ext. 6589.

MURRIETA DOLLARS FOR SCHOLARS…

Students from the Class of 2017 who have maintained the required Total Cumulative GPA may apply for scholarships from the Murrieta Dollars for Scholars. Applications will be available online only at .Students must complete their online applications and submit it online by the due date. Online applications will open January 1st, 2017.Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.

SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP NIGHT…

Seniors who have applied and been invited by the Murrieta Dollars for Scholars (formerly MHSSF) will be awarded their scholarships on Monday, April 24th at 6:00p.m. This event is combined with students that attend Murrieta Mesa and Murrieta Valley High Schools. It is held at The Gershwin Performing Arts Center at Murrieta Mesa High School located at 24801 Monroe Ave. in Murrieta.

Winter Fest Dance:

VMHS on Saturday, February 4th from 7:00 - 11:00 PM. Enjoy another fantastic VMHS midwinter dance with dancing, good food, desserts and unlimited beverages. Ticket prices start at $25 with ASB, and ticket sales begin on January 11th. Online purchases are made by simply going to the school website clicking on the “Trading Post Online” on the front page (you will need your student’s permanent I.D. number to make online purchases and Guest Pass tickets cannot be purchased online).

Junior/Senior Prom:

Coto Valley Country Club on Saturday, May 6th from 7:00 – 11:00 PM. The Coto Valley Country Club is located at 23331 Via Venado, Trabuco Canyon, CA 92679. This event is being sponsored by the Junior class and ticket prices will start at $85.00 with ASB.Ticket sales for Seniors only, will begin on Monday, April 3rd, and on Monday, April 10th for Juniors. Tickets may be purchased either online or at the bookkeeper’s windows. You may purchase Prom tickets online by simply going to the school website: clicking on the “Trading Post Online” on the front page of our website (you will need student’s permanent I.D. number to make online purchases and Guest Pass tickets cannot be purchased online).

TICKETS ARE NOT SOLDAT THE DOOR FOR PROM!

A charter bus will be provided for the students who need a ride to the event. Permission slips must be picked up from the Trading Post and returned, with payment, to the bookkeeper. Bus tickets will not be available online, and must be purchased either with your Prom tickets or soon after for an additional $10.00 each.

Tickets are limited, so purchase early!

CHECKS ARE NOT ACCEPTED

Guest Passes For All Dancesare mandatory for guests of VMHS students who do not attend school at Vista Murrieta. Only one guest is allowed per student. Guests must be of high school age, and no individual over the age of 20 years old will be allowed. Guests 18 – 20 years old must include a copy of their driver’s license or legal California ID card attached to their guest pass. Guest passes must be picked up from the Trading Post and returned, with payment, to the bookkeeper. Faxed or emailed guest passes from local schools, will NOT be accepted! Scanned copies will only be accepted from high schools that are more than 15 miles away.

School ID cards are mandatory for admission to the dance.

**All students and guests MUST have a picture ID.**

NO-GO LIST If a student is credit deficient, has any D’s or F’s, a GPA below 2.0, four tardies or more, truancies, unverified absences, major discipline issues or suspensions, the student will be placed on the No-Go List.

Seniors who have not met the Senior Reflective Essay component before January 2017 or completed Community Service Hours by February 28, 2017, will be included on the No-Go List. Additionally, Seniors not on track for graduation who have not completed credit recovery course(s) by April 14, 2017, will be included on the No-Go List.

C.L.A.S.S. AWARDS…

Vista Murrieta’s year-end awards are held during the annual C.L.A.S.S. Awards Night sponsored by Renaissance. Departmental, leadership, athletics, arts and outstanding citizenship winners are recognized at this event. The Class of 2017 valedictorian and salutatorian will be announced. This awards night is scheduled for Monday, May 22 at 6:00 p.m. in the VMHS Gymnasium. Students will receive an invitation prior to this event if they are a C.L.A.S.S. Awards Recipient.

DIPLOMAS

PARENTS: Please verify your senior’s name and spelling on ABI prior to January 12, 2017. Diplomas will be ordered the following week. Email changes to BEFORE January 15, 2017.

**Request final official transcripts through Parchment.com prior to Senior Check-Out day on Monday, June 5th! If you have any questions or concerns, please see your counselor.

Disneyland Grad Nite…

Sat. June 3, 2017. Tickets are available to purchase starting January 11, 2017, at the Trading Post Online on the school’s website Students are assigned buses when they purchase their tickets, so students who wish to travel together should purchase their tickets at the same time.

The cost for Grad Nite 2017 is $130.00. Price includes admission to both parks and charter bus transportation. Tickets can sell out quickly and are limited – be sure to purchase your tickets early. This event is for VMHS students ONLY – Guests are not allowed. All students MUST ride the bus to Disneyland. Students who do not make the bus will not be permitted to drive their cars.

THE GRAD NITE BUSES LEAVE VMHS ON JUNE 3RD AT 1:00 P.M. AND RETURN TO VMHS ON JUNE 4TH AT APPROX. 4:00 A.M.

CHECK OUT/GRADUATION TICKETS…

Students must meet graduation requirements, community service hours, return all library books, turn in their Senior Survey and clear any financial obligations before going through Senior Check-Out and to receive their graduation tickets.

Each student receives a total of

six (6) free graduation tickets

A maximum of ten (10) additional tickets may be purchased online or from the bookkeeper starting January 11, 2017, for $10.00 each. Simply log on to and go to the “Trading Post Online”. The deadline to make these purchases will be May 12th. All tickets (6 free and any additional purchased tickets) will be available for senior students to pick up after successful completion of Senior Check-Out on Monday, June 5th.

Want Graduation Reserved Seating? The only reserved seats for graduation are the Press Boxes (top of home side stadium) auctioned off in May. This is a great opportunity to add some extra seats with an awesome view and shade. The auction is conducted in the West Hall counseling office, the old-fashioned way, by open-bid for several weeks in May with the highest bidders winning seating for 6-12 people. The donation is tax deductible with all proceeds going to the athletic department.

** GRADUATION 2017 DVD’S WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR A PRE-ORDER PRICE OF $25.00. PRICES GO UP TO $30.00 ON APRIL 1, 2017

**GRADUATION 2017 “LIVE STREAMED” WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR VIEWING ON THE INTERNET FOR $10.00. A VIRTUAL TICKET LINK WILL BE POSTED ON THE VMHS WEBSITE. YOU MAY ALSO ENJOY THE “LIVE STREAMED” GRADUATION IN THE VMHS AIR-CONDITIONED PERORMING ARTS CENTER. TICKETS ARE $10.00 EACH AND MAY BE PURCHASED FROM THE BOOKKEEPER. THERE IS LIMITED SEATING FOR THIS EVENT.

COMMENCEMENT…

REHEARSALS for commencement are MANDATORY in order to participate in the graduation ceremony! All seniors who are attending graduation MUST attend both practices which are scheduled for June 6th & 7th – students are to meet in the gymnasium at 8:00 am, each day. Please be sure to make arrangements to have this day off with employers, etc.

Students must report to the gym at 3:00 pm on Graduation Day

PLEASE BE ON TIME!

*Vista Murrieta High School does not allow floral or candy leis, airbrushed gowns or other alterations to the cap and gown.

COMMENCEMENT– JUNE 8, 2017

BRONCO STADIUM – 5:00 PM

Students must arrive at 3:00 p.m. and report to the gymnasium. Due to limited parking students are encouraged to be dropped off or carpool. Stadium gates will open at 3:30 pm. Admission to the ceremony is by TICKET ONLY, and seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Seniors are required to be dressed appropriately. This includes cap and gown, dress pants for the gentlemen, pants or dresses for the ladies. High heels are discouraged for the ladies due to the all-weather track (platforms are acceptable). Graduates need to leave all electronics at home or with family members on graduation day. Seniors arriving after the process starts WILL NOT be allowed to join the ceremony and seniors not dressed appropriately WILL NOT participate in Commencement. Students may only wear medallions and awards from VMHS.

The Murrieta Valley School district has a tradition of providing an inspirational graduation ceremony, and we ask that seniors refrain from bringing items such as cell phones, noisemakers, signs, beach balls, squirt guns, etc. Guests should refrain from bringing any balloons or signs that could obstruct the view of others in their seats. These are not appropriate for the ceremony.

ADDITIONAL PARKING - Bronco stadium and our school parking lots fill to capacity quickly, so additional parking is made available at the Lost Alamos Sports Park located on Hunter Rd. off of Whitewood. MVUSD school buses will act as shuttle service free of charge to and from the stadium entrance. The shuttle service runs from 3:30 to 8:00 pm.
