Appendix. AThe Regulations for Copyrights of Robotics Society of Japan

Enacted on November 13, 2007 by the Board of Directors

(Purpose)

Article 1 These Regulations provide for matters concerning the copyrights of works edited or issued by the Robotics Society of Japan (hereinafter referred to as "this Society").

(Application)

Article 2 These Regulations shall apply to all works edited or issued by this Society.

(Attribution of Copyrights)

Article 3 The copyrights (all the rights prescribed in Articles 21 to 28 of the Copyright Law of Japan) of the works set forth in these Regulations shall in principle belong to this Society.

(License for Works and Effective Use of Consideration)

Article 4 If a third party requests a license for reproducing or reprinting any work set forth herein, this Society, when acknowledging the necessity of such license, may give approval to the third party on behalf of the author. The authority concerning such license may be delegated to an external institution with approval of the Board of Directors.

2. In the event of payment of consideration to this Society from the third party under the procedure of the preceding paragraph, this Society is entitled to receive such consideration and use it effectively for activities of this Society.

(Author's Rights)

Article 5 The author may in principle copy all or part of his/her own work and use the same for other works in the form of translation, adaptation, etc. with statement to the effect that the author is using a work belonging to this Society. However, when using the work for another work by copying all of the text, the author shall give prior written notice to that effect to this Society to obtain approval.

2. After issuance of any work set forth herein, the author may post all the text of the work on the website of his/her own or the organization to which he/she belongs without notification to this Society. However, the author shall post the work without amending the content of the electronic file provided by this Society and specify that the work belongs to this Society. In addition, the author or any third party shall not receive any monetary rewards through publication of the work on the website.

(Author's Responsibility)

Article 6 The author shall assume responsibility for the content of the work set forth herein.

(Exceptional Handling)

Article 7 If any agreement is separately executed concerning the handling of works of this Society, it shall apply in preference to these Regulations. Works subject to this provision shall be determined by the Copyright Committee of the Robotics Society of Japan.

(Responsibility of this Society)

Article 8 After receiving the manuscript of the work from the author, this Society shall as soon as possible disclose it to the public for the benefit of the author by means of publication or other.

2. If a third party infringes on a copyright, this Society shall take countermeasures, such as elimination of the infringement, in cooperation with the author.

Supplementary Provisions

1. These Regulations shall be implemented from November 13, 2007.
