Ø  Inter-state Gang of desperate robbers busted.

Ø  Involved in attacks on Traders and House Robberies including recent Sadar Bazar Murder Case.

Ø  Involved in over 20 heinous cases of 4 States.

Ø  Arms, ammunition and motor cycle recovered.

The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has busted a desperate gang of robbers with the arrest of 6 persons. The gang is found to be involved in several cases of Murder, Attempt to Murder, Armed-Robbery etc. this year including some recent cases of a daring nature.

Ø  The gang usually targeted either a trader carrying cash or a house in the relatively affluent colonies.
Ø  They also favoured the use of motorcycles for making quick getaways after committing the crime.
Ø  On several such occasions, they have opened indiscriminate fire to injure the victim and scare the passers-by.

3 fire-arms with ammunition, 3 knives/daggers and one motorcycle used in crime have been recovered from the arrested persons.

The details of the members of the gang are:-

1.  Shah Nawaz @ Samir @ Rihan (24) s/o Mohd Yusuf r/o H. No. 457, Gali No. 21, Jafrabad, Delhi. One pistol of .32 bore with two live-cartridges, one fired cartridge and one motorcycle Bajaj Pulsar Black was recovered from his possession.

2.  Shahwaj @ Khan (40) s/o Mohd. Yusuf r/o Kasba Afzal Garh, Bijnaur, U.P. One country-made pistol with two live-cartridges was recovered from his possession.

3.  Shahbaj Alam @ Mulla (20) s/o Muzaffar Husain r/o C-180, Kabutar Market, Welcome, Delhi.

4.  Shah Ahmad Ali @ Munna Thekedar (46) s/o Mohd. Ali r/o Mohalla Pathanpura, Naziabad, Distt. Bijnaur, U.P. One country-made pistol with two live-cartridges was recovered from his possession.

5.  Mohd. Akram (45) s/o Hanif Ahmad r/o r/o Mohalla Pathanpura, Naziabad, Distt. Bijnaur, U.P. One dagger and one button-actuated knife was recovered from his possession.

6.  Salim @ Monti (31) s/o Abdul Hafiz r/o Mohalla Masi Moka, Afzal Garh, Bijnaur, U.P. One button-actuated knife was recovered from his possession.

All the above mentioned 6 persons belong to Bijnaur District of U.P. and have been operating from rooms temporarily taken on rent in the Trans-Yamuna area.

On 30.12.2009, an information was received in the Anti-Robbery Cell of Crime Branch that members of the Shah Nawaz @ Samir @ Rihan gang will be assembling in the Lajpat Nagar area. A team comprising SI Lekhraj, HC’s Suresh Kumar, Rajbir, Sandeep and Costables Manoj Kumar, Pradeep Hooda, Anil Kumar, Deepak, Surender led by Inspr. Sajjan Singh in close supervision of Sh. Rajender Singh, ACP/ARC was constituted to apprehend the gang. At about 9.45 p.m., the above mentioned 6 persons were seen assembling near Captain Gaur Marg, Lajpat Nagar, Delhi. On being challenged by the police party, one of the suspects fired upon Ct. Surender but he missed the target. The suspects tried to flee from the spot. Immediately, the police party closed in and apprehended all the aforementioned 6 persons.

During interrogation, the arrested persons have disclosed their involvement in over 20 heinous cases of Delhi, Chandigarh, U.P. and Uttrakhand. 2 of the arrested persons Shahwaj @ Khan and Shah Ahmed Ali @ Munna Thekedar have been declared Proclaimed Offenders in case FIR No.96/03 u/s 399/402 IPC and 25 Arms Act of PS Special Cell, Delhi.

They are also involved in the recent Sadar Bazar murder case in which an on-looker was shot dead when the gang opened indiscriminate fire on 19.12.2009. This case had created a lot of sensation in the area, and had been widely reported in the media.

Earlier on 11.11.2009, they had shot at a meat trader going on a scooter in the area of PS Gokal Puri.

On 11.04.2009, a Rice Trader was shot dead on the Old Yamuna Bridge in the area of PS Kotwali. The gang leader Shah Nawaz @ Samir @ Rihan is involved in this case.

They have also committed a number of house robberies in Jyoti Nagar and Seelam Pur areas during the past few months. Shah Nawaz @ Samir @ Rihan is also involved in the Mother Dairy attempted robbery case in the area of PS Mayur Vihar in 2008.

When they were nabbed on 30.12.2009, the gang had actually assembled to commit armed-robbery in the house of a businessman in the South Extension area. By their arrest in time, this crime has been successfully prevented.

SENSATIONAL KIDNAPPING FOR RANSOM OF (Rs. 2 Crores) CASE WORKED OUT

·  In what may be termed as brilliant piece of Police work, in less then 72 Hrs. sleuths of North East District cracked a sensational case of kidnapping of a young 15 years boy. The boy was kidnapped from Nand Nagri area by a gang of 4 youngesters on 28/12/09 who, after kidnapping the innocent boy were making ransom calls demanding Rs. 2 crores from the parents of the kidnapped boy for his safe release.

·  Arrested gang members are:-

-  Rahul Yadav s/o Rajbir Singh r/o C-2/289, Hardev Puri, Gali No. 9, Shahdara, Delhi

-  Kamal Sharma @ Vicky s/o Late R. P. Sharma r/o A-54, Gali No. 4, Jagat Puri, Shahdara Delhi.

On 29/12/09, Sh Shyam Awasthi, r/o H. No. 1, Village Kanchi Pura, Nand Nagri, Delhi reported that on 28.12.09 at about 12 noon his son Nitin aged 15 yrs has gone out of home for playing and since then he has not returned. He further reported that on the intervening night of 28/29.12.09, he received a call from mobile number 9015533038 asking whereabouts of his missing son and later on the said telephone was found switched off. He suspected that some unknown person has kidnapped his son. On the said statement a case vide FIR No. 322/09 dated 29.12.09 u/s 363 IPC was registered and investigation was handed over to SI Ram Diya. During investigation the complainant further reported that at about 1.22 pm, he received a phone call from the same number demanding Rs. 2 crore as ransom for safe release of his son. In view of these facts section 364-A IPC was added in the case.

In view of the sensational nature of the crime, a special team comprising of Sh. A. K. Lall ACP/Seema Puri, Sh. Dharam Vir Joshi, ACP/Shahdara, Inspr. Satish Sharma, SHO Nand Nagri, Inspr. Sanjay Nagpal, ATO PS Nand Nagri, SI Vijay Kumar, SI Manmeet Malik, SI Ramdia, ASI Ram Pal, HC Rishi Yadav, HC Anil, Const. Mahesh, Const. Kapil, Const. Sonu & Const. Sachin.

Except the mobile number of the ransom caller, initially, the family of the victim could not provide any clue which could lead to establishing the identity of the criminals. However, loosing no time the police team developed certain clues on the basis of local enquiry and other sources. In this process SI Vijay Kumar and HC Rishi Yadav played key role. Teams were dispatched to all possible hide

outs of the criminals but in vain. Hide and seek game being played by the kidnappers baffled the police for some time but it did not last long. As it was a matter of life of a boy aged 15 yrs hence police team was using much precaution. On further development of intelligence the police team narrowed down to the kidnappers. The police proved to be one up in the battle of wits. The team was able to narrow down the location of the criminals on the run and laid a trap on 30.12.09 at about 10.00 pm and recover the kidnapped boy safely from the area of Vijay Nagar, Ghaziabad. However the accused person succeeded to escape.

On the instance of victim the residence of one of the accused person and school mate of the victim namely Rahul Yadav and various hide outs in and around Vijay Nagar Gaziabad, where the victim was kept after kidnapping, were raided. Finally the accused Rahul Yadav and his associate Kamal Sharma @ Vikky were apprehended from an unauthorized colony at Vijay Nagar Gaziabad. The mobile phone instrument from which the ransom calls were being made, has been recovered from the possession of accused person.

On sustained interrogation of both the accused person they disclosed that their associate Sanju is the leader of the gang and alongwith their one more associate Sonu Kumar they have planed to kidnap the victim Nitin as they have learnt that Nitin’s father has huge sum of money with him and hence they have demanded Rs. 2 Crore. Father of the victim is a local businessman. After the receiving of ransom amount their planning was to kill the victim Nitin as accused Rahul Yadav was identified by the victim. Accused Rahul Yadav is the Ex- student of Sidhartha International School, PS Jyoti Nagar where the victim is presently studying in 8th standard.

Further investigation is in progress and efforts are being made to apprehend the remaining two accused persons.
