The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations:

1Objective
The objective of these Regulations is to amend the Public Health and Wellbeing Regulations 2009—
(a) to ensure that immunisation and exclusion provisions apply to education and care service premises; and
(b) to add Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV) to the list of notifiable conditions in Schedule 4; and
(c) to decrease the amount of lead in blood at which it becomes a notifiable condition for the purposes of Schedule 4; and
(d) to ensure that the requirements in relation to poliomyelitis extend to all poliovirus infections.
2Authorising provisions
These Regulations are made under sections 232 and 238 of the Public Health and Wellbeing Act2008.
3Commencement
These Regulations come into operation on 4 April 2016.
4Principal Regulations
In these Regulations, the Public Health and Wellbeing Regulations 2009[1] are called the Principal Regulations.
5Vaccine-preventable diseases
For regulation 81(d) of the Principal Regulations substitute—
"(d)Poliovirus infection;".
6Provision of information
(1)In regulation 84(1) of the Principal Regulations—
(a)for "school" (where first occurring) substitute "school, education and care service premises";
(b)for "school or centre" substitute "primaryschool, education and care servicepremises or children's services centre".
(2) In regulation 84(2) of the Principal Regulations—
(a)for "school" (where twice occurring) substitute "school, education and care service premises";
(b)for paragraph (b) substitute—
"(b)Poliovirus infection; or".
7Primary school, education and care service premises or children's services centre
(1)For the heading to regulation 85 of the Principal Regulations substitute—
"Primary school, education and care service premises or children's services centre".
(2) In regulation 85(1) of the Principal Regulations, for "school" (where twice occurring) substitute "school, education and care service premises".
(3) In regulation 85(2) of the Principal Regulations—
(a)for "school" (where first and secondly occurring) substitute "school, education andcare service premises";
(b)for "school or centre" substitute "primaryschool, education and care servicepremises or children's services centre".
8Schedule 4—Notifiable conditions
In Schedule 4 to the Principal Regulations—
(a)in Group A—
(i)after the item relating to "Measles" insert—
"Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV)";
(ii)for "Poliomyelitis" substitute "Poliovirus infection";
(b)in Group B, for "Blood lead greater than 10μg/dL" substitute "Blood lead greater than 5μg/dL".
9Schedule 7—Minimum period of exclusion from primary schools, education and care service premises and children's services centres for infectious diseases cases and contracts
(1)In the heading to Schedule 7 to the Principal Regulations, for "schools" substitute "schools,education and care service premises".
(2)In Schedule 7 to the Principal Regulations, in Column 1, for "Poliomyelitis" substitute "Poliovirus infection".
