3.5.1.7 Paid Leaves

3.5.1.7.1 Sick Leave

Providing paid sick leave to our employees reflects a sincere attempt on the part of the University to recognize that occasionally an involuntary absence due to illness or accident will occur.

Because of the economic impact of this policy, any abuse of the sick leave privilege is considered a serious matter and is subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

The University may require certification of illness by a physician if absence, due to illness or accident extends beyond three (3) days. Sick leave may be used for illness, accident, and/or scheduled medical appointments for your own health needs or to care for a family member.

In order to qualify for paid sick leave, the supervisor must be notified of an employee absence at the earliest opportunity.
